New 91/30 1941 Mosin owner

Post by wrec »

Hello everybody,
i am from Czech Republic and few days ago i bought my first Mosin.

I would appreciate some identification from you guys (Tula or Izhevsk)
There is also a lot of marks i dont know and failed to find on the internet.

In third photo, in the first oval there is a letter "K" and in second oval "BF" (БФ) - it is upside down.

If you want me to take pics of specific details, please ask.
Thank you all.

Welcome to the Forum. It's a Izhevsk. Hard to see pics on my phone right now.
I've been to the Czech Republic several times. Loved it there.

Welcome to the forum. Just as BuckeyeSgt and Spongemonkey said, it's an Izhevsk. On bolt (picture 2) you have Tula stars.
Bolt, barrel and receiver (pic 2 &3) have either CPN or CIPN stamp. Is it maybe import mark in Czech Republic? Also, is there a Czech lion stamp in picture 3 (or Czechoslovak lion) between CPN and 17?
Can you post picture of whole rifle?

Welcome to the board. The lion stamp is likely a Czech government proof stamp added when the rifle was imported. Remember this is done in Germany and other countries as well. In the USA there is no requirement for proof testing surplus rifles, but we do have some large and ugly import marks placed on the rifles when they come in to the country. Nice 1941 :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Hello guys
CIP N with a lion is a Czech proof mark that means rifle was tested and complies with state regulations
Number 17 means it was tested in 2017
CIP (Commission Internationale Permanente ) is the "European version of SAAMI"

My mosin (sorry low light)
Here you have a imported pistol with CIP N xx15 (2015) markings.

Is there any chance you might run across some of the 7.62X54 ammo that was made about 15 years ago by your country?? This was some of the best ammunition that ever went down the pipe of a Mosin Nagant. Czech silvertip, good stuff.

Hi,
yes this is old Czechoslovak 7.62x54R vz59, marked 7,62-59Odst. (odst. = sniper).
It is unobtainable these days :(
bxn sniper.jpg
Best we can get is Czechoslovak 7,62-59Tž (heavy projectile - 11,9 grams=+-184grains) with yellowtip.

I still have 4 or 500 rounds of it. No, it is not for sale. I have some yellow tip also but it is brutal to shoot.

It's a wrist bolt. Adds strength to a weak spot.

What is it like for a milsurp fan in the Czech Republic? Do you have a good variety of rifles & pistols to choose from? Do you have to jump through hoops to purchase them? How about shooting? Are ranges easy to find?

I have a 1953 CZ-52 pistol that is one of my favorites. It handles well and shoots where it is pointed. Are these available to you?

Hey,
I have like 6 ranges in 20km (12mi) radius, so i would say yes, there is quite a lot of them.
I live 20km (again 12mi) from Ceska Zbrojovka Uhersky Brod - CZ UB :)

Old military guns are getting more rare every day. Days of $150 mosins are long gone. Novadays, mosins are $300-400 and are gone within day or two they arrive to the gun shop.
Makarovs are unobtainable, on the contrary there is plenty of Tokarevs (TT-33 - $200).
You can still get kar98 ($800), SVT-40 ($500), PSL-Romak ($1200). Heck i have seen original SVD Dragunov ($2800).
AKs 47/74 are also plentiful - $300-500 for semi-auto.
Semi auto VZ58 goes for $250 , VZ61 skorpion - $150
Full auto guns are practically banned here.

You can get pretty much everything here, if you have the money. For rarer guns, you have to watch forums, sales boards, etc. every day.

For the ammo. Old milsurp 54R - 30cents a piece
7.62x39 20 cents a piece.

Hit me up if you have more questions ...

That might not be bad, Buckeye; You speak Russian, I know a little, I speak passable German, and Czech is not hard for me, I'd assume it's because I'm 1/8 Bohemian. The gun laws in The Czech Republic are good and getting better-like here, there is a dedicated political movement for gun rights.
