Ammunition Inventory...
Finally got around to doing an inventory of loaded cartridges on hand.
7.62 Nagant: 50
9mmx19: 100 (will load 500 today)
45 ACP: 700
22LR: 171
7.62x39: 80
7.62x54R: 980
30-06: 99
.303 British: 189
8mm Lebel: 304
I don't shoot the Nagant or 22LR hardly, so no real need to keep large amounts on hand.

Re: Ammunition Inventory...
8mm Lebel I need. Can't find any anywhere. I have thousands of rounds of .30-06 and .303 Brit I could trade. I am about to sell my two Lebels for lack of ammo.

Re: Ammunition Inventory...
Can't be that bad to sell off some nice Lebels.. I have one, but 2 1/2 boxes of ammo also. The one that kind of infuriates me is no 10.4x38 Swiss rimfire for my Vetterli. I found half a dozen rounds at a show for......$22 bucks a roundcapt14k wrote:8mm Lebel I need. Can't find any anywhere. I have thousands of rounds of .30-06 and .303 Brit I could trade. Re: Ammunition Inventory...
Time to quit messin around and get some AMMO Lots on sale right now, you need at least 2000 more 7.62x39 and whatever else you depend on most. We're gonna be at war with Hilliary's Hussies and the ragheads soon. It would take 10 men to carry off what I've got squirreled.,awalker1829 wrote:Finally got around to doing an inventory of loaded cartridges on hand.

10 more men and you got a rifle squad.

Re: Ammunition Inventory...
I would have a coronary event if I checked my ammo locker and found it that low, get ammo. My supply would collapse the springs in the truck, and I consider that the bare minimum.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: Ammunition Inventory...
Those guys are right OP. I just organized some of my ammo in the new cans I got and I have at least half a dozen cans of each of the rifle rounds you mentioned; plus a whole lot more. However not a single God forsaken round of 8mm Lebel Rifle ammo.

Re: Ammunition Inventory...
Lebel ammo? Make your own, it uses the same .323 bullets as the 8mm Mauser and Privi has the brass at reasonable cost. Lee runs off special lots of the die sets, if they are out then eBay probably has some. I never even thought of buying commercial new ammo, I just set up and made my own.

Re: Ammunition Inventory...
Prvi makes a seasonal run of 8mm Lebel. You might have MidwayUSA and Graf's notify you when they get it in stock. I've done this before and they'll notify you via email.
I load my own as well. Use a cast bullet made for the 8x56 Hungarian in my N marked Berthier carbine. Works nicely, but I've had some issues with premature case neck splitting. Using a bushing neck sizer die from CH4D now and annealing my brass. Hoping that will be the trick.
Buffalo Arms sells the .327" Prvi bullet, but it's expensive. Slug your bore and you'll more than likely notice it's .327", not .323". I've used some .323" and it's OK for plinking.
Just don't use surplus in a non N marked Lebel.

Re: Ammunition Inventory...
One more thing. Don't buy that PCI stuff Graf's sells. Stick with the Prvi.
Re: Ammunition Inventory...
If you know how much ammo you have, then you don't have enough. I have no idea how much I have of anything, if asked, all I could say is "a lot".
Re: Ammunition Inventory...
I like to quote FFDP: "It's never enough, no it's never enough...." I'm going to load up some .223 today, since I loaded up all the .45 bullets I had. I do have some 45LC brass ready, maybe I'll pick up a box of bullets.mogunner wrote:If you know how much ammo you have, then you don't have enough. Yes you need a lot more. I try to keep 1,000 rounds of each caliber. 2,000 rounds for the firearms that I have multiple of in the same caliber. Others say 2,000 and 5,000.ksbanker wrote:You guys are giving me a complex! I thought I was doing ok, but obviously not! I can make a shelf sag but not a truck! [emoji38]

It's a little rough with some of the odd ones like the Japanese and Italian rounds. I got rid of the Italian and only have a couple hundred of the 7.7 JAP. I am there

Re: Ammunition Inventory...
One day, I am going to make a list of all of the calibers that I use ammo for. The oddball ammo that I rarely shoot, I keep several boxes on hand. The stuff I shoot often I keep a shooting stash, a danger stash and an emergency stash. I still have a shooting stash of .22LR of several thousand rounds from before the great drought.

I don't think I have 10,000 of any of them. Maybe 5,000 of .30-06, 303 Brit., and .22lr.

SG Ammo and AIM Surplus. Sometimes I buy from Sportsman's Guide if the deal is right and shipping is free.ksbanker wrote:Who do you guys usually buy ammo from?
Re: Ammunition Inventory...
SG Ammo is where I've bought most of my ammo. Their prices are right and the shipping is super fast since the are only a couple hours away from me in Stillwater, OK.
