Don't know about that here. Some of the local hardware stores here sell firearms and ammo-mostly Ace franchises.

They did that here also up at least to the mid 1980's. I remember buying 400 rounds of Federal .30 carbine ammo from a friend of mine who ran the local mom and pop hardware store in 1987. I still have one 50 round box left.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Looked at a 1942 Tula 91/30 at Crappy Tire. Bit of a strange one, S/N was 10 on all parts except the receiver which had 2 Cyrillic letters before the 10. Just a ton of cosmoline all over it. Didn't buy it. Is the S/N something unusual?

Did they have full crates of 54r and if so how much?

My svt 40 doesn't like the Norinco stuff to much but loves the S&B..

I only saw the 440 for sale. It's marked Czech Republic and comes in 20 round boxes with plastic dividers inside. No spam can. The kid googled the markings on a round and thought it might be Chinese. Image

Chinese ammo packaged in the Czech Republic based on the headstamp. Factory code 61.
Am I reading it right??

According to a few sources it appears to be Chinese factory 61 made in 1967.

And there I thought I was getting good European ammo. I should have read the label closer!
Oh well, I hear the Chinese ammo is pretty good as well. I assume it would have the same characteristics as the 1966 ammo on the 7.62x54r.net website

I bought a 400 round box of that stuff today at P&D because no one has crates of Russian surplus... bummer.

Anyway I'll find out tomorrow how it shoots.

There is something "fishy" about it.
The "Fishy" one is good. The one he put up before was kinda weird.

Didn't read the entire thread and just found out that this is Chinese ammo not Czech.

That's false labeling..

Oh ok, I thought you knew because I did see you posting. I thought it was something like it had problems. Yeah that's a weird one this stuff being Chinese from the Czechs.

I have bought plenty of 7.62x51mm from Venezuela that was made by the Yugoslavians.

I fired some rounds down range and good grief is that Chinese stuff ever dirty.Every few shots I'd have a failure to extract and the copper washed cases were just black.
Meanwhile the search is still on for some Russian surplus.

And for all those who don't know who Trudeau is, I got a recent pic of him...
Sorry for the language but to know him is to hate him
