Finally Gave In... M1917
Finally Gave In... M1917
I've been thinking (dreaming) of have one of these for quite some time. Most of them I've seen are at gun shows but either way too expensive or not in particularly good condition. When I saw this one, I had to have it. Not particularly rare or in original condition but I like it a lot. 1918 Remington. Functions perfectly and has a wonderful bore. Small chip out of the tang but no big deal. Can't wait to shoot this. Perhaps a shoot off with the 1903, M1917 and the Garand (that's in the mail-another one I finally gave in on). Sing is a Kerr sling I picked up.

She's a beaut, I'm jealous. I've got the 1903 and M1, this one is next on my unicorn list.
One question: How come you have the sling threaded through the stack swivel?

Nice one. I got an 1917 Eddystone buried in the safe myself. Glad it found a good home.

Congratulations on your M1917! That's a great looking rifle!

I've had my Eddystone for a couple of years now. I hadn't seen one locally, then out of the blue one was listed in the local trading journal for $350.00. I dialed as quick as I could figuring my luck it was already gone. Luckily it wasn't and I made it mine that day. Great rifles with one heck of a strong and smooth action. I haven't shot mine yet, but it's in the queue to get shot on my first range trip this year.

My sling is different. There is no clamp like the one shown has that can be used to tighten it down. It has two buckle ends though. I'll probably fuss with it some more now

Excellent find, it's been hard for years to find these with nice bores.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Great find. These are beautiful rifles.

She looks great cleaned up! JYD is correct, the majority of the ones I've looked at don't have great bores.
