Good deal? Long Branch 1945

Post by Deadheadmatt »

I have limited info on this one, but my pawn guy sent me a few pics and says $225 out the door. I don't own an Enfield, but the price seems right. Anything you guys could add would help!

By looks alone I would say yes , as long as the bore is good . Cant beat any complete Enfield for $225.. If it happens to have matching numbers then you will be getting a steal...

It sounds like a good deal if it will head-space.

Canadian #4 MK1 nice, not a bad price for todays market.

Damn good price. I see a lot of Enfield sporters bringing almost that much. If the bore is in at least decent shape I'd hit that every day and twice on Sunday for $225 out the door!

If you decide not to buy it, ask the guy if he will ship it to Ohio.

Just got back from the shop. The photos sent were of another enfield he had sold earlier in the week. The Long Branch 45 was sporterized, missing most of the wood, had a butt plate rusted to the stock and a non matching bolt. Wasn't interested in a new project gun. :facepalm1:

I'm still looking for a decent priced enfield of WWII era vintage to finish my rifles of WWII collection.

It's at Al's Pawn & Gun in Nampa, Idaho if you want to take a stab at it.

Jeez, nothing like sending pics of a full wood, then get there to find out it is a sporter... :o

Here in Saskatchewan, a nice sporter can usually be had at gun shows for $125-$175, depending on a few things. Some of the old sporters bear a close look. At a recent show in Neepawa, MB, I researched a rifle for a fellow. It started off as MLM 1894 LSA, modernized in 1911 by VSM to CLLE specs, then sportered by BSA!!

The old thing had been refinished since being sportered. It is a gorgeous old rifle and the history and lore just drips off it. It still has the safety mounted on the bolt. So it has had a bridge installed in 1911 and a thumb hole gouged out for using charger clips, then had the bridge removed by BSA.

The fellow decided he wanted a .22, so we made a deal and the rifle came home with me! Although it certainly wouldn't interest the collectors, it certainly tickled my fancy. :)
