Daughter got 1st Squirrel today..

Post by Tennessee_Mosin »

I was out in the backyard this evening tossing skeets for my daughter.

She hit about 25 out of 35 skeets,we were testing all the different shotguns we have and seeing which she liked best.

As we were getting done their were 2 squirrels jumping from tree to tree down at the Fence line. She made the comment she would like to try to get one.

I gave her 4 shells and told her to walk down in the woods and get one.

Well the 4 shells did not last long she missed 4 times, and came back and got 7 or 8 more shells. Then she went back out again missed 2 more time, and on the 7th shot she bagged her 1st squirrel. He helped pull the skin back and I cleaned it.Tomorrow we will fry it up and she if she likes it.. :?: She loves deer but has never eaten squirrel.

She shot it with her favorite shotgun,it is her Great Grandpa's Winchester 12 guage 1400 Mk 2

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Squirrel doesn't look particularly enthused. Might even say he looks bored.

I am very very proud.I am teaching her hunting and fishing and shooting along with a love of college football.

Because there is nothing I can possibly teach her on the educational front.I have never placed any pressure on her schooling, she got out of the 8th grade top in her class with a 99.250 GPA and so far in High School average is 100.She takes so much pride in maintaining that GPA.She is way into college level math,it is so far above my head when I look at her problems it makes my head hurt.

She is 15 years old and in the 9th grade and has a career plan in place.

She is joining the Air Force and going to attend ROTC at Ole Miss for her Pharmacy degree and be a officer. We will be taking a campus tour January 23 in Oxford.

Please excuse my bragging but I am proud of her.

I cut and quartered the Squirrel and we eat it with our Christmas morning breakfast.

We breaded it and fried it like chicken and told my 6 year old boy it was Chicken. He ate 2 pieces at the table and loved it,what he don't know will not hurt him.. :Ha: :burp:
