Best ammo to use for Mosin PU?

I am not sure if this has been posted yet, but I think shooting corrosive surplus is a bad idea.

What manufacturer ammo would be best for shooting mosin with pu scope.

If buying online check out gundeals ammo section. These I will list are N.C. Wolf,Silverbear,Brownbear, pputhese are steel cased. These r brass cased, prvi partizan ,wolf gold,Sellier&Bellot, hornady SST, Hornady match vintage.

hello, Well, I must be a BAD Person then. Because, I love .20 per round surplus ammo. Isn't that what was shot though these rifles in the first place???? You are going to clean your rifle, aren't you??? so what's the difference .. OOPPss better lay off the clean rifle thing... I'm sure you can find High price B/NC/BO on gun-deals.com @ $ 1.50+ per round , If you think that is a Good ideal.. JMO just my opinion. KMA , Keep More Ammo, Means buying it cheap... JMO

I shoot the surplus out of my regular Mosins.
however to preserve the mosin pu forever and ever i need to select clean and premium ammo

Shooting corrosively primed ammo in any firearm is only a problem if you don't clean it properly after shooting it. It's not battery acid. It's salt and washes away easy enough. If you read through this viewtopic.php?f=66&t=6932 cleaning is explained and it's easy. Keep in mind these rifles only had corrosively primed ammo shot through them while in service. I only shoot corrosively primed 7.62x54R surplus and have nothing commercial. The PU Sniper and 16 other Mosin Nagants I have show no signs of problems from it.

Just clean your gun properly and it is a non-issue.

Look at the bore of your Mosin, how many rounds of corrosive ammunition do you think the Ruskies used?

What is bad idea is not cleaning your rifle when you get home.

Ivan Sidorenko, Lyudmila Pavlichenko, and Vasily Zaytsev, all Hero's of the Soviet Union, were all Russian snipers during WW2 that used 7.62x54 corrosive ammo as they sniped hundreds of enemy soldiers, officers, and snipers. The same stuff that comes in the spam cans.

I'd say what's good enough for them, should be good enough for us, yes? After all, we aren't using this stuff in wartime conditions, and some of their shots were up to 1000 meters on confirmed kills.

I am going to the range tomorrow and shoot 1971 corrosive surplus ammo.

After everyone's input, it certainly sounds OK as long as I clean my weapon properly and ASAP

I think you will enjoy it. Full power rounds, just like would be used on a battlefield for a much better price than commercial. Let us know how it goes.

I'm still stocking up on the milsurp ammo spam cans. This stuff will dry out too some day, and we'll be writing "remember the day when you could get at 440 round spam can for $85?". Well, that day is now. So stock up when you can and you'll be set for a long time.

I'm heading out with my new PU Sniper and some nice milsurp ammo this week. And I will clean at the range right after shooting.

You can get non corrosive new production ammo for around 8 bucks a box so I don't shoot corrosive for the same reason. I really don't like cleaning the damn thing every time I get back from the range.

Don't get me wrong, I clean my rifles, I just don't want to clean them as soon as I get back from the range. So I shoot non corrosive so I can wait a day or two.

7N1. I'm partial to Yugo M30 also.
