New m95 steyr
New m95 steyr
Picked this up today. Any way to tell the year it was made? From what I understand it was used in WW1 then again in WW2? I have a clip for it but no ammo yet. The bluing is real nice under the stock. Bore is very good.
Any thoughts

Here is where the sling used to attach before the rifle was converted.

Nice. The date can be found under the overstamp that is right below the S. The S means it has been chambered for the 8X56 from the original 8X50.

Wow that is SAWEET. Pic is a little to blurry for me to tell. Looks like a 33 overstamp though

Before you take the bolt out read the following. It will save about a 1/2 day of learning a new vocabulary. http://www.surplusrifle.com/steyrm95/bo ... 95bolt.pdf

Thanks, already did. Took a few minutes to get it back together. I don't think I'll be taking it apart to clean it every time I shoot it.Longcolt44 wrote:Before you take the bolt out read the following. I can't get a better photo of the over strike.. I looks like an 88 or 33. hard to tell, but they are defiantly the same numbers.

Nice looking rifle. I would like to have seen the stock when it was new. I purchased mine at a
Big 5 Sporting Goods store a few years back for less than 150.00. At first ammo was hard to get and I chumped off 40.00 bucks for my first box It seems to be easier to find now and I pay around 26.00 for 20 rounds. It's fun to shoot but wear ear protection and a good wide stance.

Thanks. I look forward to shooting it. I'll be picking up another one someday. Can't go wrong for the price.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
