Hello all. More of a browser here. Have just one mosin. 1933 hex receiver 91/38 refurb. Love this rifle and the 7.62x54r round. Bought the thing from dumhams last year. Can't seem to put it down. Now eying the t-53''s or m44s. I own and shoot other firearm types (wheel guns , pump 12's etc) I find myself fascinated by the history of these mosins. Bought the thing because it was cheap and I needed a center fire full powered rifle. Im taken aback by the amount of fun these things are. I am a purist and history buff so no bubba here. Surplus weapons stay in historical condition in my opinion. Also having a craving for a yugo 59/66. Thanks all. Take care

Hello all. I now own a M44, I think. It looks like it was made in Izhevsk in 1944. It has the triangle and arrow in several places and 1944 on the tang. However, I will post my questions in another post rather than the "hello" section. Nice to be here. Thanks.

Anyway im down here in FL past 20 yrs with more guns then money and just got into Moslins, Round, Hex, M44 etc. Have 6 of them cuz wanted the Izhevsk and Tulas, Im not one to butcher them with refinishing them as some do as mine were hand selected for bore and finish, Have the ammo but didn't clean not a one yet, Was doing the pistols first and in no rush. But I am going to use one of them and I think the M44 and go after a nice 200+ LB wild boar and see how it knocks it on it's arse, Im still LOL on some of the videos, Pure NY'ers stand out.

Even with this safe act shit any C&R except handguns should go to your home. Long Island is not New York City, it has the same rules as the rest of the state. I visited the village of Oyster Bay in Cove Neck last month, first time I was out on the Island in at least 15 years, nice area.

I know NYC was always taboo, He's in Cutchogue, NY which is way out in suffolk county near hamptons, I want him to apply for a C&R so if he did by what ur saying he can have C&R Rifles but not hand guns. If this is true that will make him happy as I can ship him rifes (C&R) direct, I thought even though u had a C&R in NY u still had to go thru a background check thru a gun shop like CA. I have a FFL 01 but a 03 can ship to a 03 or higher and a 01 to another 01 lower or higher except for NRA weapons. Like I said usually 21 days and 30 bux u can't go wrong.

Over here laws got better, The Zimmerman case aka Stand Your Grounds, Only in FL
Your friend will have to be over 21, a US citizen, and have a squeeky clean record. He will have to pass a Fed background check, and the C&R is for relics only, no modern arms. STuff like Mosins, or Garands, no Mossberg shotguns, or AR15's, and he will not be able to deal weapons to the public with a C&R.

New member. Looking forward to learn more. My second Moisin. I have a Sig M400 223 but my Moisin always goes to the range with me. Half shooting the Sig, half shooting the Moisin. In fact I enjoy my Moisin more.

Bought it new today, a 1940. Could not be more happy. Numbers matching, super tight gun. Compliments all the time.

Amazed how the word is getting out on these guns in the last for years,,,,,,

Putting a sight on it???? Maybe down the road. Bit it shoots so good now.

I'll be working on perfecting shooting with the iron sights and learning proper maintenance. Oddly,,,, the Moison has a better trigger than the Sig. Luck?
thanks, Mike

Welcome to the board Mike, I don't know the Sigs trigger so I couldn't say, but good triggers on the Soviet refurb Mosins do happen, mostly luck of the draw

Hey, This is Ike. I have a 91/30 purchased from big five. Was planning to do a lot of work on this to "sniperfy" it. I decided top keep it stock, and do a few minor changes to it , such as trigger, and possibly bedding the stock. We will see. Just want to hear it go bang first.
