bore shots.

Post by jonnyboy091373 »

Ok. I have an admission to make. I love bore shots. They are second only to markings on the barrel and receiver. So, even though they are hard to get, I'd like to see them :)
I'll take some of my own and post them soon. So, if you've got them, show them!

I have one. It's the rattiest T-53 bore to have been pulled out of the Yellow river.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

First one is a '42 "B" barrel
The rest are some oddities I had. :D
A unissued refurb Mas 36, you can still see the machine marks, and with a left twist.
M47 Madsen, muzzle brake makes a bore shot hard to take
M1917 Enfield with the original Winchester barrel with left twist.
And a big bore deer stomper, my .45-70.

Hummm, could this signify a need for a counterbore?

Here's another one off of a 37 Izhevsk "red" rifle. Does anyone know why sometimes the bore shot looks iridescent like this? I think it's cool but don't have any idea how to reproduce it.

I suppose it all depends on the surface of the bore of the particular rifle you're photographing. How it reflects the light will change how it appears in a picture.

Don't ever give up on a bad looking bore or pass on a particular milsurp with a crusty bore.
Here's a before & after bore pic of my blonde 1946 Izhevsk M44 that I almost passed on a couple years ago......sure glad I didn't!!
A bit of scrubbing....some shooting ....& a bit more scrubbing.....
It's a good shooter now! :vcool:
