Thanks for the info. I also picked up on the same day a 1935 izhvesk hex sa marked with the 41 stamp. I will get pics of both when i get home. So far i own those two rifles, + a 1926 dragoon converted to 91/30, & a tula (40's i forget exactly what year) both retain wartime stocks. Had some other carbines & a m39 sako, but i sold them. regret it now.

'41 marked Finn, nice find, too bad about the ones you got rid of, they may be here on the board someplace.

Welcome to the board, first thing to do is read the posts in the sniper forum, you will find a lot of information there already. If then you still have a specific question about these rifles that forum would be the best place to ask, lot of knowledgeable folks check in there. Are you worried you may have a fake PU sniper?

Hi All,
New guy to the Mosin world here but I'm off to a running start. I finally got to pick my rifles up from my FFL this past week, a standard 91/30, an M38 and a PU sniper. I love them all already but the PU is tough to figure out, either a good "put together" one (in my limited experience) or an original that got an arsenal refurb. I'm hoping to figure it! I look forward to learning about these solid rifles that I'm now addicted to from you all.

I finally figured out how to upload a picture. Here is my '35 Izhevsk with 41 mark. Anyone know what the "p" is?
Also, it has a 3 digit serial. Kind of cool.

I purchased a Type-53 a couple of months ago and a Russian 1940's model a few weeks ago. Looking at possibly getting one of the Hex models that are on sale just to "balance" the iddy-biddy collection.
New to "collecting".
In the Army 40 years ago, so did some shooting then and in Boy Scouts before that. TRYING to read, absorb, and learn as much as I can about the old weapons so looking forward to much of that here! Picked up a Sterling Mark 4 Type 2, a Swiss K-31, and a Chinese Yugo SKS to start my hobby. My father has a Mauser he brought back in WW 2 and I believe an old Garand that I hope to talk him out of soon. Looking at possibly a Turkish Mauser & a Steyr if they're still in the store on Monday. Saw some Steyr's on-sale online, so that may be a back-up.
Have patience with the Rookie as I learn.

I was fortunate enough to buy an unissued Polish 44 from a friend who had an FFL back in '99 and just recently picked up a 91/30 and value these guns highly in my collection that includes several other military arms. I've always been impressed with the straight forward simplistic design and the rugged beauty of the Mosin Nagant, and while I've enjoyed firing hundreds of rounds of surplus ammo, I'm ready to start reloading for these as I have for all my other guns for 40 years with the exception of my SKS guns as well .22 rim fire of course. I've already learned quite a bit from this forum and look forward to leading more in the future and eventually contributing myself. Thanks!

Great looking rifle, hard to find stamp, if the P has been explained, and it probably has been I have forgotten.

My name Glenn, I am originally from Ukraine. For last 23 years I live in the US. I am 43 years old, I served in Russian (USSR) army. Since I got my US citizenship I have been collecting guns. I live in Texas which makes it easy to do so. I have two mosin rifles in my collection, one made in Chatellerault, and other one late war production.

Welcome to the board, Turkish Mauser's are fun, what model of Turk Mauser were you looking at? If your father would allow it we would love to see pics of that bringhome Mauser and the Garand, was it his issue weapon, or one acquired later? Your collection is off to a good start, the Chinese and Yugoslavians each had their own SKS rifles made in their respective countries.
