"RED" Mosin Rifles by MOLOT

Post by desertgunner »

:D :D :D Gentlemen,

if you own a Molot rifle with RED markings on receiver and/or rear visor blade, please come forward!!

I already know there are some "RED" Molot snipered PUs out there, being sold by different onliners.

In case you do not want this out in public, email me or use sks9130fan@gmail.com to your convenience.

I am researching the "RED" riddle, also see my thread on the Mosin Nagant forum

:D :D :D Guys, please do not use the gmail account, I had to close it! :D :D :D

So far I have 3 MOLOT "RED"s in the barn and more were promised so far....
....it is getting more and more interesting!

This is some work every day, checking all the info sources and compiling them, but it looks good.
So far 16 rifles are reported, with 8-10 more to come, I am really excited   :pointleft:

Are there any photos of these 'Red Molots'? I am curious to see what it is you are referring to, and so may others wishing to avoid them. Thanks. :)

The "red" refers to the red color highlighting the markings on the barrel of some Mosins.

Don't know if this qualifies as the serial is not done, but sight, butt, and floor plate are. It's a Molot PU.

Now, that's interesting. Haven't seen that before. No /25\ either that I can tell but I'm not the expert.

I have almost closed the deal on a red crayon with a kid down the street, he is trying to squeeze another Hershey bar out of me, but I think two is enough.

It's a good point though, on the real red mosins.. Is the red a paint?? I have seen a few, and even saw one that was pinkish (looks like the red was washed out)..

Hard to tell exactly what it is. A steady hand with a paint brush maybe.

On my M91/30 PU it's some sort of grease pencil or crayon like substance. I can see crumbs of it in other places where they rubbed it on with broad strokes and it got stuck in sharp edges.

The "triangle 25" must not be that unusual. I recall that I have seen it on more than one of my rifles, though for the life of me, I couldn't tell you which ones.

If the Russians think we appreciate "red" markings, I should suspect that they will provide it for us.
