One For The Gals....11 Point Buck!

Post by WeldonHunter »

You guys might remember in posts I've talked about how the ladies around here hunt and do as well as the guys or better sometimes. Below is a picture of my neighbor and a buck she got a few days ago. It's an 11 pointer and was taken up at the place they have by her husband's families homeplace about 20 miles from here. His mother still lives where he grew up and all the kids have 100 acres across the road. Twenty acres are in Louisiana and eigthy are in Arkansas. From the look of the tag that might have been taken on the Arkansas side. Don't know for sure because I haven't asked her about it yet. They've caped it and it's in the fridge on the porch across the road waiting to go to the taxidermist.

Yeah it's a good 'un that's for sure. I just talked to her husband and he said she actually got it on another piece of land they have down behind his mama's place in Louisiana. Same area I mentioned before but about a mile from where they usually hunt. She's taking it to Simmons Sportings goods in Bastrop, LA. to enter it in the Ladies Big Buck Contest as I type this. I have no idea what they give away for the Ladies catagory but last year the overall winner won a brand new 4 wheel drive pick-up.

I'll ask her but I think it was from a stand. That's the way they hunt. It's probably .223 but they use , 30-30, 30.06 and I think .243 too but I'll get more specifics.

This where you'll see it when they post it. Her name is Reba Lee http://www.simmonssportinggoods.com/bigbuck2010.asp If you click on the names on the page it shows the racks. This is this years so far. This is the biggest one so far. 21 point 213 3/8

The cars get them more than hunters do around here.

Get back in there and hunt, all the hunters in the woods drive the deer out onto the roads were they smash the shit out of cars. We get paid to supply new parts, our friends in the local body shops get paid to fix the damage, for us it works out well :)

Well I talked to my neighbors daughter and she not only entered this deer at Simmons but also entered it at T.P. Outdoors.

Go here http://www.simmonssportinggoods.com/bigbuck.asp and her name is Reba Lee. She's #1 in the womens rifle catagory so far. Click her name and it shows her with it. Go Reba!
