Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

am i right that the yugo is the only SKS that you could still buy NEW surplus. i am a second owner of a 1978 YUGO sold new in 2005. the extra weight does not bother me in the least. it had never been fired before 2 months ago by me.

You want to be the third owner of a 1986 Yugo sold new in 1986? We will sell it reeeeeeeeeeal cheap :) It's a fixer upper :)

I use corrosive ammo and when I clean up I use citrus based cleaner(made from Oranges) in a Harbor Freight 20 gallon parts washer. It makes clean up really easy for all my guns. I usually follow it with balistol to make sure the bore is treated well then check on the bore during the next few days.
