Re-picked up a Vz52/57 this week
Had a chance to buy back the nicest Vz 52/57 I ever owned. Turns out the guy I sold it and two others to was moving,and wanted to lighten his load. As is typical with these,the stock and receiver match,but on this one so does the op-rod. Bolt is off by a couple of hundred numbers. Sems he was holding on to this till the last,it came with the extra mags and pouches I sold him too.

It's always good to see old friends, I never sold any of my milsurps, but I did give away a couple. They went to close friends so I visit them regularly.Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I'm glad you got it back. I sold two pistols years ago and one was stolen with the car the guy kept it in (idiot) and the other one the guy will sell but at about 3x what it's worth. I'd pay about 2x as it is a interesting piece, but not as much he wants. Any time I think about either of these I kick myself

This is why I do not sell things, sporting rifles sure, so long as they are not my old favorites heavy with personal history, but common stuff I pick up just for trade no problem, milsurps? Never.

Very nice woodbeef, I have never held one of these. Do you have ammo for it? Ammo is not too easy to come by, but I did see a bunch of brass for reloading recently.

Even when they were coming in ammo was not that easy to come by, it's one of the reasons it never achieved the popularity of the SKS. It's in there with the French Mas 49 as cool, but expensive to shoot.

the 52/57 was converted to 7.62x39 so its easy to find ammo for it. I had one some years ago but sold it Mine was one of the few smugled in from Grenada where the troops captured quite a few still in the crate . The guns were aid to Castro. Its nice you got the spare mags and pouches as well.

Nice Vz 52 It is a strange gun with a Garand trigger mechanism ,gas system of the Mkb42W and a Czech. Magazine like a German K43 ,shooting M43 Soviet ammo being made at the same time with the AK47 .having a side folding bayonet like aT53 and used in Africa and Cuba revolutions. No wonder you wanted it back. I don't know of any of my friends ever having one. Good luck with it and I'm glad you got it back in one piece. Thanks for showing us how cool they are. JGC
