got Mosin PU scope cover and lens caps from ebay

So, in anticipation of my PU sniper coming from AIM, i set about searching for a PU scope cover and lens caps. I finally settled on a set from a seller called ostfront.militaria on ebay. A bit of a gamble, but the listing said original military issue and they had good feedback so i thought id give it a try. Today, a package arrived from Moldova. As I cracked it open, a little Red Army pin badge fell out. As a pulled out the contents, a familar smell filled my nostrils, like the oil canvas tent my father used to port around in the summer. smells legit! Thought I'd share with the forum in case anyone else is looking. I figure you all will let me know how I did. I saw that a string tie model was available, as well as the buckle model I purchased. If anyone cares to share any historical collector's info they have on these items, I'm sure we would all appreciate it. Now I just need the rifle.

Fits well, shows age, definitely not a re-pro. Got that old canvas smell.

Just a tip. I use Mink oil on all my leather goods, it keeps them soft. Get the Mink oil paste no the liquid. Walgreens, CVA etc carry it in their cosmetic section.

That outfit has been around for a lot of years and have been a great source of both reproductions and original equipment for years. Now you decide what you got? Oh and heck no I am not sure either! I figure if you are happy with it and it works what is the difference other than price? Bill
