Re: M44 or T53 ?
Definitely a T53, and it sounds like a good buy, all matching number T53s aren't that common.

Re: Damaged Round Disposal?
Pull the bullets with pliers, dump the powder in an ashtray and throw in a match.
What do you mean, that's not safe? It was the way they did in on the Air Force range where I learned to shoot as a kid.

Finn M91 first range trip
In had the range all to myself today for the first test of my new Finn! A few observations: 1: The M91 sights are a whole lot better than M91/30 sights for accurate shooting! 2: If I load 5 rounds the second round will not loads, the interrupter seems to be worn and the second round manages to move ...

Re: m44 Loose bolt...
UPDATE I bought the gun. I cleaned it up real well, got rid of all that cosmoline... It seems the bolt is only super loose when the gun is cocked.. Also, I put a spent round (empty casing..) in the chamber to see if the bolt would tighten up on it, and the bolt refuses to close with the casing in t...

Re: Mosin nagant bolt malfunction?
I wouldn't mess with it, I have found that the loose bolts are far less likely to suffer from sticky bolt syndrome. Yep, my first Mosin was a 40 Tula I picked because the bolt felt tighter than all the others in the crate. At about round 8 the bolt gets tight, I have tried every fix ever ...

I used electrolysis on some Roman coins once, never again, as Zeebil says it just leaves a cratered mess.

Awesome!
It's the sight spring on my "new" Finn M91. Everything else that is marked is Tula.

So, I took it apart, I really wanted to know what was under the tang, so, here it is: http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq75/MikeBcos/L1040461.jpg What is that? Some kind of weird Russian date? :chuckles: A number under the barrel: http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq75/MikeBcos/L1040457.jpg The b...

Just picked it up, my 4473 was delayed, as it always is when you're a foreigner, here's one overall photo, I'll pull it apart tonight and check it over. Bore and trigger are both excellent. It has a teeny import mark on the muzzle. http://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq75/MikeBcos/1942%20Fi...

Bore and trigger are good, I didn't pay $400 because I told them it was incorrectly marked.
