Re: Got to love the Chinese
So get a nice antique hunting rifle, 1950's Winchester model 70 maybe, or how about the lever guns? Model 94 Winchester in .30-30, now there is good white tail medicine. Maybe one day, I actually intend buying a new hous before I buy any more guns, one with a shooting range and hunting in the back ...

Re: Got to love the Chinese
12"? We call that a great shotgun pattern :) At least it's on the paper, not bad considering the wear some of these type 53's can have on them. Yeah, it's good for plinking gallon jugs of water at 50 yards but beyond that? Nah! No worries, I have several more to chose from, I was just hoping t...

Got to love the Chinese
My T53. :D [BBvideo 425,350]http://youtu.be/dqoC1P9iWWs[/BBvideo] Unfortunately this was a test to see if it was good enough for deer hunting, nope, shoots about a 12 inch group at 100 yards! I'll take a couple more out soon and pick the one I'm going to use this year. On the other hand I got the ne...

Nice!
I have N, HO and OO, I don't have a layout built right now but will in our next house. I'm actually trimming the HO collection now to concentrate more on OO.

Yeah, and typically 25% of people won't even show up and the rest won't shoot every day, we all know bad shit can happen but so far there have not been any idiots selected.MeatMarket wrote:That's over 200 acres per person. Sounds like plenty of room to me.

Re: More trailcam pics
20 people on 4300 acres, I hope there is some sort of central coordination so nobody ends up shooting in the direction of another hunter. Or do you all pick time slots to be in there? No coordination. The hunt is shotgun, not rifle which helps, there have never been any accidents, people are just s...

Re: More trailcam pics
What is that? Sounds like you just got a contract from the state to do a hit on Bambi    That's exactly what it is, a lottery to hunt on land not open to the public, this year 20 people have been selected to hunt 4300 acres over a 10 day period that starts a week after re...

Re: More trailcam pics
I was just selected to hunt deer in a managed hunt by the Missouri Department of Conservation, I need to put my camera out in the area I intend to hunt to see what is out there.

Well I got the trail camera set up and in a good spot to.It's over looking a natural mineral lick. Think I'll leave it here for a week or so,just hope no one else finds it. :very mad: From what I've seen you should be fine, most hunters will appreciate and respect what you are doing and leave the c...

Re: BubbaDX Feeds His Gun Addiction
All I can say is WOW, what a revolver. I am really liking this one and I cannot wait to take it to the range. As promised, here are some pictures. It has the original clamshell case, documentation, the spent casing in a sealed envelope and other paperwork. Even a Ruger sticker that I assume came wi...

Re: Slug barrel length.
Just curious how it shoots with the slugs from your 28" barrel. It goes bang and stuff downrange breaks. :D All I know is I sighted it in at 50 yards with the turkey sights, I was hitting a 2" group at that range. It also stopped a running deer dead in its tracks at 10 yards, I don't thin...

Re: Slug barrel length.
OK, a 24" rifled barrel just popped up on Ebay, let's see where this auction goes. :D My research tells me that a slug stops accelerating at 20", a 24" smooth barrel just slows it down slightly, so I'm either going to get the 24" rifled barrel if it goes within my budget or I'll ...

Re: Slug barrel length.
I've thought about buying another gun but I really don't need to. Right now I can pick up a 24" smooth barrel for $130 or a 20.5" for $220, both come with rifle sights. This is only the second time in four years I have been selected for this particular hunt so whatever I buy won't get much...

Re: Slug barrel length.
I would assume the longer barrel to have more velocity. Why a smooth bore? My rifled 870 and Hornady LeverEvolutions have a nice kick. What sort of hunt? Stand or stalking? Heavy woods? Distance? You could use a stand or stalk, I hid at ground level last time, it's 50/50 woods and open, likely rang...

Slug barrel length.
I've been selected in a drawing to hunt deer on a Conservation area this year, weapons has to be a shotgun firing slugs. Last time I did this same hunt I used my BPS with the stock 28" barrel with universal turkey sights attached. This time I'm going to buy a smoothbore slug barrel with rifle s...

Re: 1800's pocket pistol help Id
Pedersoli makes that sort of hideout pistol, or screw barrel pistol. It should have had a key that inserts into the rifling of the bore and turns the barrel on and off for loading. If yours is a Pedersoli then you should be able to get a key from them, or any other parts. Yes, you are supposed to l...

My counter bored M44 is the most accurate one I have, probably something to do with the fact it now has an undamaged crown.....
