Re: Badly bodged Mosin part II, live(sort of) from Arizona!
1945 date plus lack of dovetail for the rear sight tells me it was an M44 originally. Very few 1945 date 91/30s have ever turned up and m44s' rear sights are a sleeve that is pinned in place, no dovetail

Nice exdragoon. Looks like a standard hardwood stock to me. I like to look at what parts went into a rifle's refurb. Over the years I've found parts from every Russian/Soviet arsenal and era as well as US and some Hungarian made parts too.

Nice first Mosin. The bayonet is for a later 91/30 model, but will fit the m91 fine.

Re: 1929 Tula Bolt Handle Markings
Belgian proof marks. The bolt body probably came from an 8mm conversion, a good number of those went to Spain. Ive seen a few SCW mosins still in 54R but having these bolt parts The bolt head would still be a standard one.

Nope, it's a unique one made from a shortened 91/30 handguard.

Never imagined watching wartime date refurb 91/30s selling locally to me for over $500 but they are.

Re: Ignorance is not bliss...need guidance for shipping antique Tula
The SA isn't a capture mark. It's a Finnish Army property marking that came into use in 1942. Multiple SA stamps are fairly common. The Finns could have acquired that rifle through already having it in inventory when they became an independent nation, bought from a 3rd party country that had capture...

Re: Ignorance is not bliss...need guidance for shipping antique Tula
Is the tang dated 1897? I've seen a few antique date barrels on newer receivers lately, those no longer are antique. Never know with a mosin. When shipping antiques it can go to an adult directly if there state laws allow it. I tend to stick to C&,R holders though just to be safe

Re: Recent purchase first post
Nice ex dragoon. I see it was built on an earlier imperial era receiver. That's common on early 20s dated mosins. If the receiver is 1898 or earlier it's an antique no matter the barrel date. Have you had it out of the stock? You can see the receiver on the underside of the tang that way.

If I'm not mistaken it would have been built in 1918? I'll look it up. Any date on the barrel?

Re: New Mosin Help
Darryl I love that animation. I've given up on correcting people when they call the barrel chamber area the receiver when it comes to mosins though. Ive even seen a few horrifying D&T jobs on mosins lately where they had tried to put a scope mount right over the date and serial number area think...

The square refurb marks show these were in Riga Latvia at some point. That's about all I can add. Nice ex-dragoons

Looks just like the few other Polish-refurbed PUs I've seen. That's a serious upgrade from your other rifle. Well done.

Hard to tell but it could easily be a bolt off a sniper rifle.

Romanian Battlefield Pickup AK stock set
I ordered an AK stock set a few years ago. Lots of character, I thought I'd share. Graffiti, trench art and what looks like a bullet strike. Buttplate was apparently replaced, I had forgot to put it back on for these pictures. I'll leave it up to you to translate the Jebi Se graffiti.

Re: Romanian Surplus Furniture on WASR-10
Looks great! I got a set of the "battle field pickup" Romanian furniture that apparently went through Yugoslavia based on the profane trench art. Lol. Looks out of place on the new looking WASR though.
