JYD, Must certainly be a regional thing as I can still find the Blu Skys and the Arlingtons at significantly lower prices. I should start scooping them up and shipping them to you ...

Re: Value question
No one has asked the "Import mark" question . This in itself can greatly effect the values of these 2 pieces. In my neck of the woods a non import marked Winnie Carbine will bring $900-1100. A non import marked 03a3 will bring $600-$800. Import marks will drop the values by a few hundred ...

Re: SKS- Claymore/Frag Damage and Jungle Repairs
Thank you for sharing a very cool piece. My guess on the sling is the attachment was changed so that the rifle could be slung to where it hangs in front of the soldier , in a more ready position.

Very nice Hungarian, congrats !! .... I do believe the sling to be Romanian, and quite collectible in it's own right.

At 50 yards you would need a pretty stiff wind to make a difference.. Were you shooting with the bayonet extended? You should try it that way. You may be surprised at the results.

Romanian spliced PTG M91
Stumbled across this little jewel this morning and snatched it up. It is quite unique. It looks to have been in Romanian hands for a while as evidenced by the stock splice . It has a really cool stock with some neat tiger striping. The jury is still out on the cleaning rod. It screws in snugly and ...

Re: BYF 43 P38 ... OOh La La , my lucky day
Thanks Martin. It feels more like a collection every day. I think I started out just buying whatever crossed my path that seemed cool. In doing so I have quite a diverse lot. Now , as I and my collection have matured , I find myself wanting the more unique pieces. Not saying that a Garand isnt uniq...

Some will say I am crazy but I traded a Garand for this fine little piece. Was it a fair trade? Knowing what I had in the Garand ,I say definitely yes...

BYF 43 P38 ... OOh La La , my lucky day
Did a bit if horse trading today . This WWII handgun kick that I am on is fun, but is getting kinda crazy. Saw a fellow at a show this morning walking around with this P38. I looked at it , drooled a bit and asked his price... Wow he really liked it. Was asking $900. That really isnt too out of lin...

Re: New to the mosin game need advice
1955 M44 is excellent condition is likely Polish. Does it have a big 11 in a circle on the barrel shank? If it is Polish ,and is in unissued condition with matching numbers, then $650 is not out of line. They are quite sought after and some of the nicest M44's made.

Wow , congrats. What you paid is close to average for a more common M38 , much less a 1939..

Re: M1 Garand people come in have a gripe...
Well i joined the CMP forum and i noticed the Garand collectors are the opposite from the mosin collectors... They want everything new and refurbished... They even talk about how they throw away stock repairs that have some nice characters like artwork and put new CMP wood... They repark all the pa...

Re: New to M1 Garand... What I get?
Is this stuff good for the garand? http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/AMM-A16320L That is excellent ammo for the Garand. Non corrosive Greek HXP surplus. The only downside is that it is on links. Just pull it off , load it in some enbloc clips and you are ready to go. This is the same ammo that...

Re: May 1942 Springfield M1 Garand
The only serial number on an M1 is on the receiver and the only date will be on the barrel . Most of the other parts will display lot numbers . Parts went through changes throughout M1 production. As the part changed , so did the lot numbers.
