Smith & Wesson Victory
Picked up a pretty nice example of an early Victory in .38 Special. I believe it to be a late 1942 or perhaps early 1943. It has no US Property markings of any type. It is numbers matching on the frame, barrel and inside right grip. Research seems to indicate that it was an early issue to an agency ...

Re: HSB identification
I'll get some info and pics up on the Victory tomorrow. Yup, they were issuing them up until I retired in '91.

Wasn't one of the body guards in Corleone Sicily, carrying something like these DB's in The Godfather ?

Re: HSB identification
Maybe I'll tackle it over the weekend. Looks like the left hammer doesn't strike quite as firmly as the right. No matter to me, I'll probably not shoot it, although I might try the right side with the Federal. I want to keep the a Remington box intact. I've been scoring some unusual pieces lately. P...

Re: HSB identification
Very, very nice. Quite a bit of similarity to mine. Looking it over some more, I noticed that inside the rooster image is "RUSO". The left barrel is stamped GENUINE ARMORY STEEL CHOKE BORED. It has a latching forend. The action lever is pretty loose but it seems to lock up okay. Do I have ...

HSB identification
Back again with something different. I just picked up a wall hanger, Hibbard Spencer Bartlet double barrel. I need some help identifying the manufacturer and date. I understand that these were brand name guns and many were manufactured by Cresent. The serial number is 226669 and marches on the barre...

Re: Put some Hogue grips on my Ruger Security Six today.
I'm such a noob when it comes to this stuf. That, plus the fact that my brain doesn't work in devious ways. Once immersed in the hobby like you guys, you have seen or heard all manner of cheating and deceptions. It's a shame that has to go on but my bet is that a Neanderthal probably cheated his bud...

Re: Put some Hogue grips on my Ruger Security Six today.
I hear ya. The line on cylinder is not that bad, just noticeable to me. Im being critical in my assessment. Re the old Colt, I'm sure I could easily be fooled, but putting my engineer hat back on, I saw no evidence of any work that would even be 20th century. Of course, let it sit in the backyard fo...

Re: Put some Hogue grips on my Ruger Security Six today.
Okay, that sight probably more than offsets the scratches. I think I may be able to polish some of them out. It has had more than a few rounds down the tube but its still bright? The .45 cylinder has a very light scratch around it, like most revolvers that have been cowboy spun by someone who has no...

Re: Put some Hogue grips on my Ruger Security Six today.
Well I got it. Not sure i made out quite as well as I expected. Its a bit marked up. May be able to clean it up some since its SS an probably more forgiving to handwork. Its a 44 cal new army. Made by Euroarms, so probably not much more than a shooter. It does have adjustable sights. Per the seller ...

Re: Put some Hogue grips on my Ruger Security Six today.
I was wondering what that stuff was too. Glad it's not some kind of growth. :big shock: more on my potential buy. Seller says it has no markings, just "made in Italy". Comparing online photos, my guess it is a Pietta, possibly an 1858 Sheriff. Seller says the conversion was done by Uberti....

Re: Put some Hogue grips on my Ruger Security Six today.
Okay, made contact with the guy for the box set. I offered $350 plus a Davis DM-22 derringer and 178 rounds of 22 mag. The Davis looks nice, chrome, but I can barely pull the trigger with one finger of each hand (doubled up). No way I could ever depend on it. It was my "Sunday go to meetin' &qu...

No problem re the pics. This guy is asking $550 for the package. Seems to be a good deal. Maybe I should check it out.

Here's a pic. I haven't made contact yet as to what it is. Short barrel tho.
