Re: Finally - found a really nice Brazilian M1935 short rifle

And the numbers of rifles of these contracts were for the most part comparatively small. For example one of the largest was that for M1935 carbines for Chile - just 10,000 rifles. The only really large numbers IMO were Standard models for China. Some orders didn't materialize at all (e.g. the M1935 ...

Re: Finally - found a really nice Brazilian M1935 short rifle

Yes, they are rare. According to original Mauser factory documents I had access to only 1,000 SHORT Brazilian M1935s were ordered in 1935 (together with another 7,000 long rifles, divided in two batches of 3,000 in 1935 and 4,000 in 1937). In contrast to their long cousins which to a large extent ne...

Finally - found a really nice Brazilian M1935 short rifle

After two unsuccessful attempts I finally found a nice "little brother" for my long Brazilian M1935. For a short rifle it is in pretty good condition with a bright bore with sharp rifling and absolutely all-matching. Even the cleaning rod is the original Mauser pattern, not that Czech-made...

Re: M44 stamped "RWD" - never seen one before

These books are only available in German language and especially vol. I is very hard to find now and pretty expensive (the last set of both volumes I saw for sale here went for 202 euros a couple of days ago). Vol. II is a mere addenda to a number of chapters of vol. I and not really useful as "...

Re: M44 stamped "RWD" - never seen one before

I just checked that entry in my copy of KH's book - the information stated above is correct. Somehow I missed this information there, despite the fact that KH's books are always in convenient reach to me on my book shelf...

M44 stamped "RWD" - never seen one before

Gentlemen, during my regular surveys of the market/auctions here in Germany I stumbled across this M44. It is stamped "RWD". Admittedly I have never seen one before, nor read or heard about. Also no idea which country or maker made it. But maybe the experts here know more? M44_RWD_01.jpg M...

Here you find a lot of detail info, not only on the K31, but also to other Swiss arms and equipment - parts of it also in English:

Sorry to say that, but I'm afraid you are confusing Swiss and Bavarians here.

New "GP11" production announced by RUAG

Just received an essay from the Swiss firearms periodical "Schweizer Waffen-Magazin" (regrettably only available in German language), telling that due to still great demand RUAG Ammotec will continue GP 11 production for the sports shooter market at a rate of 20 million rounds per year. Th...

Re: unfinished bayonet

KH Wrobel describes exactly this type of "bayonet" on p. 296 of vol. I of his books. According to him such bayonets were used by soldiers acting as marshals during military reviews, where these bayonets often carried small flags attached to them.

Re: 1938 Swiss K31 Purchase

A nice rifle and for sure a great shooter. Regrettably the stock has been heavily refurbished, probably it isn't the original stock at all. From the pictures it looks to be like beech wood to me, while a rifle of this manufacturing date should have a walnut stock. Here an English translation of the ...

Re: Schmidt Rubin Carbine

Last week I tried out my K31, a Polish M44 and a No. 5 jungle carbine - all three with original surplus ammo (GP 11 for the K31, Hungarian LPS and silver/yellow tip HB for the M44 and Canadian DAC 1944 Mk.VII for the jungle carbine). Not much to choose between them IMO - maybe a little harder kickin...

Re: Swiss 7.5x55 GP11 Ammo At Lucky Gunner!!!

Seems that the Swiss recently have released a fairly large lot of surplus GP 11. At the moment it is also plentyful again here in Germany (albeit at 60-63 euro cents/round + shipping, depending on the quantity ordered) after a longer period where it was pretty difficult to find. Lot years here are e...
