Re: Quick range day with the M91 B barrel
DAMN FINE SHOOTING!!!!! The move to a .308/.309 bullet is my next venture after this "mild load" I'm working up. I had read that the M91 Finns LOVE .308 bullets. I plan on trying some 150 gn. Hornady's I have that my Savage doesn't like. Damn good shooting. Thanks for the positive comment...

Re: first mosin
Nice piece of history you have there! It's a 1942 Izhevsk in rushed wartime production finish. Lots of history in these war time produced rifles. The rough machining should not be confused with poor metal quality, rather just not pretty! Let us know how it shoots!

Re: Quick range day with the M91 B barrel
Another good report with .308" bullets. Hmmmm I like it. My understanding was that the B barrels, like all Finn built barrels prior to the M39 had .308 bores when new. The M39 was built with .310 bores. Since the B barrels were all originally M91 length, they were made in .308, hence if you ha...

Quick range day with the M91 B barrel
I finally got around to getting the jammed bore slug out of my one and only M91 which happens to also be a B barrel. Luckily I was able to do it without causing any damage to the crown or rifling. Evidence of that is the results of the shooting on Saturday... 100 yards from a rest. The covered holes...

Re: Unknown mark on tula hammer mag housing
If you meant the mark under the Hammer, than I would say it is an inspection stamp. I've seen it or similar stamps on receivers, etc. I'd say the stamp is pre 1928?

Re: Mosin feeding problem.
Reading his description again, it really sounds like an extractor problem. As you feed the round with the bolt, it's not catching the round all the way into the bolt face, so when you get it in the chamber, you have to force the extractor on the rest of the way to get it seat and close on the chamber.

Re: 1922 Izhevsk M-91 Dragoon - SCW?
You did a nice job cleaning this one up! If this were my rifle I would have followed the same path as you, and I would try to find the correct handguard and bands for it. I know without additional provenance you can't say for sure, but IMO that rear sling hanger is SCW or possibly Balkans. The Finns...

I recognize the seller's handle from a certain forum.
OP - looks to me like you got a great deal! I'm with ya on the Yugo sniper idea too. I'd like to do that one day.

Re: Mosin feeding problem.
It sounds as though you answered the question already. It's possible the mag spring is too weak. It's also possible the extractor is too tight on the bolt head, not allowing the rounds to easily seat into the bolt face. It's hard to diagnose properly over the internet, but those are my thoughts.

Re: Worth of Mosin? $
How much is a 1942 Tula PEM ex sniper worth in excellent condition all original? Is this pretty rare considering mosins? Hi. Welcome to the forum. A typical 1942 Tula refurb is worth anywhere from $125-200 depending on your area. Add in a premium for being ex-PEM. What that premium is, is completel...

Re: My carbines. Quality over quantity
I was scrolling through some of my old threads looking at pictures and I realized I never answered the request to show the receivers on my carbines. So I'm going to do that and add my M91/59 to this thread too! The first 2 pics are of the M91/59 - a '42 Tula, followed by the 1909 ex-cossack M91/38, ...
