Looks to have been rebuilt in 54. Not numbers matching but extr...

It WAS unfired before I got my hands on it. It needs a little tweaking as some of the controls like the left side mag release is a bit too tig...

Re: SVT gas tool

I just take the gas system apart and adjust it like that. Mainly to prevent erosion of the two bearing surfaces where the valve and valve stem contact. That's just me though.

Don't think any of these were converted to stripper clips. It will require an enbloc clip. https://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/3050.htm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk MOST! of these were converted to take stripper clips and spitzer ammo. The rifle in the picture is a Gew88-05. As to Waleonstrange's...

Re: No. 1 Mk III* Lee Enfield

EY does stand for emergency use only. Just because it passes headspace and looks fine doesn't mean that there isn't some other flaw that would make it unsafe. Sure, it might be just fine. Or it could fail significantly. Are you willing to bet your life on a rifle which was marked unsafe to fire? Ki...

Re: New arrival

Again. The red band was for home guard use. It should have 3006 or similar written in the red in black. This was so soliders who were using P14s, M1917s, and No1Mk3 rifles would not accidentally put .303 into their 30-06 rifle or vice versa. That is not a DP rifle and I highly doubt it was ever in I...

The red stripe was so some one didn't stuff a .303 into the rifle.

Re: Best WW2 Battle Rifle poll!

The Enfield is a great shooting rifle, it has a nice feel in the hands, it is accurate, it has a lightening fast action, it packs 10 rounds in it's mag, it's bolt needs a special tool to take down........and that last one is why the Enfield never makes my list of great rifles to take into battle. F...

Lot's of strange guns turned up in that conflict. I wouldn't say the 91/59 being there is out of the realm of possibility but I wouldn't buy the story without paper work though.

Nice to see an original one that hasn't been sportered. I find them all over the place but bubba got his hands on them usually.

Re: Best WW2 Battle Rifle poll!

Well the springy opening bolt only happens on a cocked rifle. One you pull the trigger the cocking piece is disengaged from the sear so the mainspring isn't under tension anymore and won't spring the bolt open. The position of the locking lugs, bolt handle position, and short length of the action de...

Re: Best WW2 Battle Rifle poll!

I just can't get over the Lee Enfield. Easy to shoot and feels like a rifleman's rifle. The only advantage the Garand really has is that it is semi-auto and the other bolt actions are alright. The Lee Enfield just feels right and feels like a rifle that will take you to hell and back then ask when t...

I shoot the Romanian surplus through Gew 88/05 with solid results. The Romanian stuff has a smaller diameter bullet and is loaded lighter than most.

Re: Finnish mosins from classic?

I got lucky with my 1941 VKT. I think one of the guys wasn't paying attention and grabbed a nice one instead of the standard grade. My recent experience hasn't been very good. My FFL ordered one of their Beretta 92s pistols and has been waiting just over 2 weeks for it. Their general disrespect for ...

If you can stick to non corrosive ammo with it then do so. Great rifles but a pain to clean up after shooting corrosive.

Re: Gewehr 88/05 Opinions?

No, we do not underestimate them, however when dealing with 120+ year old rifles we err on the side of caution. My Model T Ford can go 45-50 MPH down the road, maybe in 1925 somebody went that fast with it, today however I think it's wooden spoke wheels are safer at 20-25 MPH. Same with the 88's, t...
