These could be field repairs as well.
One thing about Mosins is that you can expect anything. And when you think you have seen it all, something different always pops up. When you are able to post pick, we can pick this up again.

Re: Were there 2 arsenals that made the Hungarian M44?
Want to see some really nice Romanian rifles you must go to the military arms museum in Bucharest. The first thing you see when you walk in the door are three or four stacked M-91's in the lobby. I must have looked funny on my hands and knees trying to check out the shank stampings  They have s...

Re: Were there 2 arsenals that made the Hungarian M44?
My experience with Romanian Mosin's is they never had a cleaning rod, until they arrive in civilian hands here. I think it's becoming more accepted that the Balkan labeled rifles are really Romanian rifles, as they too have no cleaning rod. I'm thinking they used a pull through instead. Hungarian r...

Re: Were there 2 arsenals that made the Hungarian M44?
he top that you see with the bolt closed, which is marked 02, is blued, on this rifle I have no idea what you are talking about. From your description this sounds like the firing pin. As far as I know, those were never blued. The entire bolt group was in the white. "02" is the Warsaw Pact...

Re: Were there 2 arsenals that made the Hungarian M44?
As far as I know there was only one armory in Hungry that manufactured these rifles in Budapest. What came out of Cugir, Romania were Balkan M-44's (and other types of Mosins and other weapons) that were refurbished. In most cases what resulted from the Romanian refurbishments were minimal to say th...

It will work fine on the M-39. The gunk is from being dirty. The rifle needs to be cleaned

Re: 1896 Tula action with 1921 Izhevsk Barrel Stamp..Huh?
Anything is possible with the Russians. No one knows when the were mated. I don't think the bottom of the barrel would indicate anything about when the barrel and the receiver were matched. There would be no reason to do this.

Re: Ignorance is not bliss...need guidance for shipping antique Tula
I never had a problem shipping via UPS. I just packaged the gun up bought a label on the web site and took it to the terminal and dropped it off. No questions were ever asked. According to federal law, an antique is not a rifle. It's an antique. State laws vary though. Depending on the state you sel...

Re: 1896 Tula action with 1921 Izhevsk Barrel Stamp..Huh?
Pretty sweet since your gun is also an antique, at least by federal law. Your state might be different. It was relatively common to have a different barrel and receiver combination with these ex dragoons. Likely that the original barrel for this receiver was damaged or unserviceable so they used a s...

Re: New to Mosins, Considering Izhevsk PU Sniper Purchase
There are lots of bubba's around and a lot of arsenal made refurbed snipers. It might be best to forward the pictures of this gun to this forum so the experts can look at it. I can't stress how important it is, especially with a sniper, to get multiple opinions before shelling out this kind of money.

Re: Finnish Mosin
You should find Russian markings on the underside of the tang that indicates the date of manufacture (of the receiver) and where it was made. Looks like a fairly nice Finn M-91..

It went from 3.85 to $4.19 overnight from a few days ago until day before yesterday. My strategy in the past was to top off regularly. Heck, 1/4 tank cost me $30. I'm hearing rumors of $200+ per barrel is on the way. Really getting difficult to make it with yet another brain dead administration. So...

It seems as if they replaced the stored 91/30's and carbines that they sold to us with AK's.

These are the shank scrubbed versions of the 91/59. Fairly uncommon. No one know what they did this. Could be that the shanks were badly pitted and needed to be sanded down.

Re: Crazy Ivan
I think that it's all smoke and mirrors. There is no reason why the puppet should want to go to war with Russia. This has all the making of a false flag the will be instituted by Biden and his CIA which will end up in "skirmishes" that will be reported as full on war. Note that Biden has ...

Re: Crazy Ivan
Very little coming out of Ukraine. Everything is a secret. The people have been told not to photograph/video anything about troop movements. But lose lips.... If there were any large troop movements to the southeast or towards Belarus, we would know it. This came out of the Donbass region yesterday....
