Re: New gun laws.
I'll say this is the left's wet dream. Pretty much outlaws the sale of all semi auto rifles, pistols and magazines over 15 round capacity. After enacted such magazines must have a s/n. All future rifles must have the date of manufacture. The sale of grand father weapons must go through FFL. Will see...

Re: M39 modern scope mount no drill
I think Bad Ace is the place to go really. I purchased one for a Yugo Mauser years ago and have had no problems with it. The M-39 mount I saw there is only $74. Prices are up for these just like every thing else. You will need a long eye relief scope. I bought a Burris Scout 2-7x32 and it has worked...

Re: Sanitized 1891/59 Carbine
Other than the Pre 1940 examples that go back to 1920, the sanitized 91/59's have always demanded a premium making them pretty good investments. That is, if you can get them cheap, i.e., under $400.

Re: Gunsmith for mosin trigger job in Houston Texas?
There was a time when M-39 triggers were readily available. It's rare to find one these days though. There is a company that sells US manufactured CNC built triggers for the Finn rifles. This might be an option for you to at least try. Other than that a "trigger job" to me is quite risky a...

Re: 91/30 Hex receiver dates after 1936
As indicated, after 1936 due to receiver shortages, stored hex receivers were used on quite a few rifles. As I recall, however, this was during the 40's when most of these were made. I had a couple of these.. But, that said, there was always the possibility that some new 1935 hex receivers left in i...

Pretty sweet Sako. Nothing wrong with this rifle. Finn matched bolt which is what you are likely to expect. Sometimes these Sako's had a matching floor plate. Congrats...

Re: A little green around the gills this morning
So many people whose eyes are open yet they are blind to truth. Unfortunately you have been told what to see and what to believe, therefore this is what you see and this is what you believe. There is only one fix to this but such discussions are not allowed here as with Jim's new proclamation that &...

Re: Jaw dropping pricing
We are in a recession right now. The profits that everyone complains about in the oil industry is a result of the forced reduction in supply and refinery capabilities. And, along with this is the worst inflation we have seen since the 80's. Same old story. A particular political party was always th...

Cute
I miss my cat. I've often considered going down to the shelter and getting another one. But, although good companions and a lot of fun, they destroy furniture. Plus, I'm getting to the age where they will out live me.

Re: Mosin 91/59 Score!
This is a very uncommon variety. To find these dated in the 30's, especially in the early 30's where hex receivers were used is pretty rare anymore... Contrats. I've owned a few of these in the past   and I will say that there is a standard in the sling slots, at least with the ones I ha...

Looks like a Spanish exploding bomb. Never seen this before. Could be SCW but this would be the first matching example I've seen. The "W" is an interesting stamp too. Is it still in the pre war stock?

I'm beginning to feel it too. Up here it's still pretty cold but getting into the mid 60's in the late afternoons. Today, I hit the lake for the first time this year and will check in with the smallmouths and walleyes :D Can't be all bad... Interesting that the bugs are not out yet. Tons of spring b...

Re: 1938 Tula with wire hangers
This is definitely one of the guns that came out of Romania. Probably used in the Balkans. The sling hangers are too thick for an SCW. This is fascinating. I don't recall seeing a 91/30 with these sling hangers before. This is what the Austrians did during WWI to many M-91's that they acquired. Same...

Re: Difference in vinage front sight tools?
I bought all three tools a long time ago... Don't use them often but when you need to, these tools work great. I don't know why someone would risk ordering one from Ukraine. I guess it depends on if you want a tool for it's functionality or for it's collectability.

All my shanks are the same. 02, Date, Crest, S.N. in that order going from top to bottom. including the witness marks. All the stamping will not be in the exact locations from one rifle to the other. In other words a stamped crest from one rifle to the other my vary in location by a mm or so. After ...

Re: Were there 2 arsenals that made the Hungarian M44?
Looks like something was scrubbed but there is the appropriate crest on the shank. As I recall, this was the first year of production. I'm not even sure if they manufactured these after 1953. Out of the 15 or so that I owned, they were all 1953's. So if a 1954 or later was manufactured, I never foun...
