All matching complete 3rd series Type 99 w/ mum and sling
Part two of my two part pick up from Pennsylvania the other day. These rifles were posted on Facebook by a gentleman who bought them both from a New Jersey veteran's relative. Both rifles look to have been in a basement for many years, and I think some of the pitting and damage is the result of that...

All matching Kokura Concentric Circle Type 38 w/ dust cover and capture paper
Part one of my two part pick up from Pennsylvania the other day. These rifles were posted on Facebook by a gentleman who bought them both from a New Jersey veteran's relative. I have the capture papers for one rifle, so I'll post it with this rifle. Both rifles look to have been in a basement for ma...

USGI shipping crate w/ saber, bayonet, Arisaka, and serialized capture papers
Just won this on an online auction the other day and I'm so excited I wanted to share it now! This is my second crated vet bring back set and this one is a really nice one. It has a 30th series Toyo Kogyo Type 99, Type 32 cavalry saber, a bayonet, and the crate the items were shipped home in. It als...

Very nice mummed, matching Type 44 rework w/ vet history
I picked up this arsenal reworked Type 44 a few days ago off of Craiglist of all places, listed in an estate sale. I contacted the owner and found out it was the vet's son in law, and he had just passed away back in September. I spoke with him on the phone and was able to get some of the history of ...

Re: Spanish Civil War marked NEW M91
Hi all,I am new here, please explain the made in ussr how that relates to scw, thanks Pitter 54 Pitter54, I run a website on the topic. Hopefully this will help explain it. In short, the "Made in USSR/URRS" mark is a type of import mark that has only been found on Mosin Nagants imported fro...

Re: Spanish Civil War marked NEW M91
The rifle came in today and I am very please with my first SCW M91. Managed to take a few photos before the sun went down. I had an extra M91 cleaning rod, so I added it on. Sling hangers are of a typical Spanish style and the "Made is USSR" helps confirm the origin. Looks like a small set...

Re: An "Out of the woodwork" Japanese Knee Mortar and case
What did you have to do to it to make it legal? ATF says you have to have a hole in the high pressure area of the mortar equal in diameter to the bore size. In the last few years they started allowing the slot style like I decided to get cut into it. Looks a little better in my opinion. They also r...

An "Out of the woodwork" Japanese Knee Mortar and case
Just picked this up this week locally. Had to get it neutered at the machine shop to make the government happy. Hated to do it but it was the only option for me. Can't even rework it into new DD here in NYS state anyway. Suppose I could have sold the barrel to someone else, but the whole rig is matc...

Spanish Civil War marked NEW M91
I've been wanting a Spanish Civil War M91 for quite some time, but haven't seen too many pop up with confirmed Spanish traits. However, I just won this example in an online auction. It's a New England Westinghouse M91 with a very nice "Made in USSR" mark stamped on the top of the receiver....

Re: Original matching 1941 Podolsk SVT-40....opinions needed
It is pretty rough, but a relatively rare variant. How is the gas system? Depends on what the price was if it was a good deal. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk I have about the price of a refurb into this one, so I think I did well. The front is rough but it's nice overall so I'm happy with it.

Re: Original matching 1941 Podolsk SVT-40....opinions needed
Don't want to hurt your feelings but dang that gun looks nasty and something tells me that the bore is in even worse shape. I call it "honest use", haha! And actually the bore looks pretty good relative to the metal on the gas piston area. With the cracked hand guard I'm not sure if I'll ...

Original matching 1941 Podolsk SVT-40....opinions needed
I had a gentleman bring me this rifle at my table at a gun show asking for information on it. I'm not SVT expert so I told him what I knew and he asked me if I wanted to make an offer. We talked back and forth and came to an agreement we both liked, and now I own my first SVT-40. It looks to be in a...

Tokyo Arsenal Type 38 w/ matching dust cover and original sling
In the same auction that I picked up the CC marked Nagoya Type 38, I grabbed this Tokyo Artillery Arsenal Type 38 with a bayonet and original sling for $220. By no means is it a mint example, but it has a lot of honest patina to it. It came with a neat little tag on it claiming it was brought back f...

Recent pickup: Jinsen Type 38 "For Education" Type 38
A member of one of the Japanese rifle Facebook groups posted some photos of this "For Education" Jinsen Type 38 and asked for information on what it was. She wanted to know what school it was used for, since it didn't have the mum and was curious what it really was. It was purchased, with ...

Re: Late Nagoya Concentric Circle Type 38 Arisaka
Nice one, clean, a few weeks to ship? I move things out within 24 hours of getting paid, drives me nuts when people drag feet on shipping after they have my money. It was a fairly large auction house, but I was surprised because the last rifle I won from them shipped in about 3 days after I won it ...

Late Nagoya Concentric Circle Type 38 Arisaka
Picked this up from an online auction in Minnesota a few weeks ago and it finally arrived today. It's a Nagoya Concentric Circle Type 38 with a pretty late serial number (2863). That would seem to make it a pretty late rifle as the highest mentioned in the Type 38 book is 2800. It has the main Nagoy...

1917 Tula M91 Japanese single shot trainer
A gentleman posted this rifle to a Facebook group asking for information on it. He said his father in law of his ex wife brought this back from World War II, but he didn't know anything about it. As I collect both Arisakas and Mosin Nagants lately, it peeked my interest. After talking with him he sa...

Re: What did I buy?
Damn, an SA marked M38 for $150?! That's a sweet deal, even with the sanded stock! Looks to be in great shape. These Finn captured carbines are certainly difficult to find. I've only ever seen one in person at all of the local shows I go to in PA and NYS. Great find! Sanded? Sanded by who ..... the...

A nice 6th Series Type 99 local auction find
It's not too often I find local auctions with decent Japanese rifles in them, so I placed an absentee bid on this one at a small estate auction 45 minutes from me and found out today I won. I picked it up and grabbed a few photos of it. Not much history known about it from the estate. It was an elde...
