Re: U.S. RIFLE, CALIBER 7.62MM, M14

Very nice film on the operation of the M14.I had one in the Air Force in 1964 just before they made us start using the early model M16. I wanted to keep mine but they eventually got them back by not issuing any more M14 ammo. Damn shame to see the all the beautiful rifles, stacked up by the hundreds...

Re: .380 snap caps in a Makarov

Ihavve'nt tried any kind of snap caps in any of my weapons.I carry an LCP at all times as a back-up along with my regular carry Glock 27.Sometime I carry a Glock 22 which gets a little heavy with 15 40cal. cartridges. The additional weight of the cartridges changes the way a gun feels when I am pract...

Re: Long Branch-branch out

Regarding the headspace testing,I always test and even when they pass I take JYD's advice and tie the gun to a test stand of some kind and pull the trigger with a string from behind cover for the first shot (just to be sure). Thanks for your service too and good luck with the fine looking Long Branc...

Re: In regards to Lemon Oil

Lemon Oil is found in many brands of furniture polish and is often recommended by furniture mfg.I use it on gun stocks in place of regular wax, which can build up over time.Vodka is a good one to use while applying aforementioned lemon oil. JGC

Re: anyone own a Century Arms CEMTE?

The CETME .308 cal. has many loyal followers that report a strong admiration for the various models available ,Many companies offer after market parts such as Buymilsurp.com and Wikapedia offers their info online. I have shot the CETME with an HK parts kit and it was like a new .308. If you research...

Re: Proper tool fit when disassembling your Mosin

I have owned a car, truck ,motorcycle and machine shop since retiring from the Air Force in 1970. During those years I have spent thousands of $$$ on various regular and specialty tools, from MAC,Cornwell ,Snap-On,Craftsman .Cobalt,etc.Why so many some ask? Well, lately many of the tool companies are...

 I have'nt bought a new hand gun in over a year since I got the new Glock Model 27 40 cal. which cost $500.00 plus tax and more for extra mag. and a mag. extension . The price you paid for the SCCY 9mm is about half what a similar Glock costs so I will try one out at my local dealer.I don'...

Re: A2 20" upper?

Yea Lee.I really like the looks of that one. I carried an M-16 for awhile and always thought it would be nice if I could improve it like they do to AR's these days.I have a VEPR with a 20" barrel and a 7.62X54R VEPR with a 23" barrel and the longer ones are just more accurate than the regu...

Re: AK47 vs AK74

My thoughts about AK 47 vs AK74: I did not buy an AR for the same reason I bought an AK74 instead. I think little fast bullets like the AK 74 and all AR variants just can't hit hard enough against hard targets. They are hell on the human body though, but so is the 7.62 X39, which had no trouble knoc...

Re: I just bought myself a PSL for 565 OTD!!!

Congrats. on even finding a PSL for decent price in A regular store. I looked in pawn and gun shops for a couple of years for one in decent shape for a good price. NO luck ,so when an on line dist put their VEPRS on sale I bought a 7.62X39 and a 7.62X54r w/ 20'' barrels . They were $499.00 plus ship...

Ammo Storage

I have been in contact with several different ammo. magazine suppliers and mfgs. asking them this question "How long can I store magazines with a full load ,what kind is best(metal vs.other) and what is the 80% rule?" Some answers have been never leave a metal magazine stored full because ...

Re: Can you identify?

I can"t say what mfg. made this one but I think they are right about the 32 cal. They were often written about in the old crime dime novels along with the various short 38 cal. sat. night specials. At one time the cheap 38 cal. revolver killed and wounded more people than any other single cal.T...

Re: Concealed carry suggestions

Many instructors say get a light 5 round regular 38 special revolver for the average female newbie. My wife carries the Ruger 5 round 357 LCR w/38 +P and she can't say any negatives. She has her choice of over 30 different hand guns but stays with the 38+P. She says its foolproof . JGC
