pitter54, 25 plus years of collecting milsurps, that's impressive. Post up some pics of your favorite Mosins when you get a chance. We also have sections for all your non mosin milsurps. :welcome3: to the forum.

Got one similar on the buttplate of a T53. Have no clue on the purpose.

Re: My $50 garage sale find

I've seen a few with the bayonet lug, believe Martin 08 has posted some of them. I don't think their 7.62x54r anymore (rechambered/setback)?? Do your research before you fire it. Cool find, congrats.

Nice M91, lot of cool history going on there. The Russians did use a little black spray now and then. Congrats on a good score.

Very nice, I don't recall that mark as well. Is that the same star on the receiver? :vcool: :vcool:

Post up more pics when you get a chance.

Re: Our Texas and Louisiana friends

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers for the people here in the coastal bend. I'm here in Corpus Christi, we fared well. Some north of us did not do so well, so continued prayers are needed for them. We lost power for 18 hrs. but back on now. Powder still dry, guns still oiled. Thanks again...

Re: 1932 M91/30, serial number 88888?

Unless you were born at 8AM on 8-8-88, I agree it's just a typical refurb. Maybe $20 premium for 32 hex receiver plus $20 premium for MO double date. I think you did ok for $270. If your friend wants to give crazy money 300/350, then I would sell.

Re: headspace

NO DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TURN THE BARREL. Your front sight would be all cockeyed. I don't think you would be able to anyway unless you're a well setup gunsmith. You need to buy a couple of different bolt heads and swap them out and see if the headspace gets better. Their not that expensive. Good luck an...

Re: Mystery Mosin

Have seen Rem M91 Japanese trainer with a different bayonet lug, also believe some of the Polish WZ mosins had bayonet lugs. Not saying this is one of those, but warrants more research. I probably would have drug it home for a cheap price.

Showcase for sure.  Let us know about the tang date when you get around to it. I got my money on it's the same date as the shank.

Embarrassed to say I've never studied these much. Seen a few on different rifle forums, but those are very impressive looking knives. Fighting knives I presume? Hunting maybe? Thanks for sharing.

Very very nice duo :Drool1: That pinky rest on the SCW in pretty special, the Finn is pretty cool also with the Deutsches Reich mark. Arabic markings a lot going with these two.
