Re: Trials Jianshe Type 53

I shoulda got into Mosins 30 years ago and stock piled them....retirement fund!!! LOL Hindsight is usually 20/20 but having great foresight is not a talent many people have I am afraid. If I start thinking of all the things I should have done but didn't I get a real long list I am afraid! Bill

Re: Pre Range Question

Shoot one round alone and check firing pin strike centered and not too deep and check cartridge for splits or wrinkles. Make sure primer is not swelled up too much after firing. Load two shells if all is right and see if she will feed right. If all goes well take and shoot her hot and clean again wi...

Re: J.B. Bore Cleaning Compound

Find the finest valve grinding compound around (it can be difficult to find any at times) and make a slurry with chrome cleaner or old fashioned compound for cleaning paint and you are getting so close to J.B. it is scary. I just wish I had access to a gas chromatograph when I learned about Sweets 7...

Re: Beat Up Mosin's Now Going For $469.95 !!

The trick is to stock up on the ammo when it was cheap as well. https://i.imgur.com/duXX3vs.jpg?1 Where in Glendale do you live I am sure the ATF or some other Federal agency would love to visit and make sure you have that much ammo stored right for public safety. Course if you don't they will have...

Re: Beat Up Mosin's Now Going For $469.95 !!

Do you guys ever listen when I tell you there is no shortage of refurbs in this country just a planned shortage on the market! The money hungry distributers of them stashed cases of them in leaky containers and being the last group in got very little of that pesky grease you all complain about they ...

Re: Newly acquired factory matching 91/30

As someone said we all have opinions and no bodies are exactly alike. I kind of put this in the capture without bring back papers or shaky bring back papers. I try to deal in knowns and not a suspected area when I collect and pay accordingly. My gut thoughts value wise on this is about $200 to $250 ...

Re: American Rifleman Article on the Mosin Nagant

If Terence Lapin can make 6 or 7 printings of The Mosin-Nagant Rifle and still keep selling them with still some mistakes in there why can't American Rifleman make a few mistakes and not get taken to task. It ain't the old days guys and everything has money figured in there in some way. You get what...

RV27's are tough to find but mine is so much fun to shoot and handles so well I have trouble not thinking everyone ought to have one. One of the lightest Finn triggers I own and very accurate too. One heck of a gun! Bill :D

Re: Counterbored

One of my former Finn owned Chatelleraults has a 5 and 1/2 inch counter bore and shoots just fine! Hard to believe but a fact! No counter bore has a taper exactly like a normal muzzle as that would be impossible to really do. It just makes sure the last rifling the bullet hits doesn't start it tumbl...

Don't know where you have been looking but they are selling for under $600 on the gun auctions. The ones that are not made or engineered well sell cheaper and that may be what you are looking at. The good ones that hold up and give no trouble sell in the $700 to $900 range and think they are the on...

Re: Ultrasonic cleaning of bolt parts

Years ago when actively working at DuPonts I used an ultrasound parts cleaner and I know not what kind of cleaner. It often darkened the parts a bit but with use they tended to go back to where they were when I started. Usually I dumped the parts in on Friday when I left work and depending on which ...

Not being a real fan of PU snipers but having seem many of them over the years and shot them many times. I have to say Weldon Hunter your holes are drilled and mounted way far back compared to most of the ones I have seen. The pinned hole has never set that far back on any I have seen before yours a...

Re: 1894 Sestroryetsk, seeking enlightenment

Nice rifle! Very Nice Price! M91 parts are awful hard to find these days and expensive too. Amazingly it is cheaper most times to buy a complete rifle than the parts to finish one. I just finished a Sestroryetsk which seems to have come from the Balkans area and has little or nothing matching on it....
