Re: SKS- Claymore/Frag Damage and Jungle Repairs
This rifle had much to tell but it needed your sharp eyes and special knowledge to hear it. I thank you for taking the time to show the rest of us.

Re: Sharp EYE for a Russian SKS
The wood looks to be light with the color coming from the finish. The brushed strokes lend it a charm that was probably absent in the raw wood.
I have quiet a number of Chinese and Russian SKS carbines and they all seem to work perfectly. They are one of my favorites for a day at the range.

Re: Revolvers, Crisco, Corn Meal & Cream of Wheat?
What about the issue of causing barrel damage by introducing oil into the bore ahead of the bullet? If it is a problem for some guns, why not for these revolvers? Is the bullet propelled by black powder too slow to be a problem?

Revolvers, Crisco, Corn Meal & Cream of Wheat?
I have read bits and pieces about the need for filler like corn meal or cream of wheat. Why is this used if the ball goes all the way home in the revolver's cylinder? I understand using Crisco or other such products such as bee's wax back in the day when weather might make it difficult to keep the p...

Re: Sorting out the Uberti Dragoons?
He didn't leave a "air pocket" between the powder and the ball. He just seated it deeper into the cylinder which is OK, but not recommended. I've done that when I got my Walker at first. The rammer will seat it all the way to the powder (at least, mine did). Better load with a filler........

Re: Czech M91/38
I imagine these carbines must be handier that the later M44 with the bayonet? I find the M44 seems clumsy compared to an M1 carbine or other carbine.

Re: Sorting out the Uberti Dragoons?
Yes, they had a large cylinder capacity, the Walker was capable of packing the same amount of powder as the Springfield rifle musket. Today the manufacturer will tell you to use 22-30 grains or FFFG, a load that requires the use of a filler to raise the bullet up to the proper just inside the chamb...

Re: Sorting out the Uberti Dragoons?
The third model was $60 dearer. That's a lot to pay for a rounded trigger guard!

Re: 1952 Polish M44
Got to love those Poles. I especially like the plum barrel bands.   I have a Tokarev rifle with a bolt in much the same color. It doesn't look to be rust, just an odd color. Was the bluing process a bit screwy on the day they were doing these or was there some reason ...

Re: Sorting out the Uberti Dragoons?
Thanks for the informative illustrations, they explain a lot. I have to think that Dixie's text is just plain WRONG. I already have a Walker, it is a great huge donk of a thing that I rarely shoot even if I do enjoy looking at it. I'll go back to the site and choose one. More on that later!

Re: Sorting out the Uberti Dragoons?
I checked that Dixie site again and this picture of the First Dragoon is displayed: http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj97/hudson1929/RH0230-1.jpg This picture seems to show the transition from octagonal to round. From the text: "Barrel is a blued .44 caliber 7 1/2" octagon to round."...

Re: Sorting out the Uberti Dragoons?
Thanks Dolk, that site was very helpful in sorting these lovely revolvers out but was so crippled with malware or popups or something that I gave up trying to follow the links to other interesting guns. It does seem as if there are only detail differences between the different Dragoon models. No sen...

Re: Three North Korean SKS Pics! And Soviet Comparison
When did NK make the SKS? Were they used in the Korean War at all? Did the NKs use Russian SKSs? I had always imagined they used plenty of the M91/30 Refurbs.
