Re: Reload the 7.62x38r Nagant?

I have been working on this too. I started with the DEWC but couldn't see any way to duplicate the factory taper crimp with them. Now I'm looking into using Berry's M-1 Carbine bullets which should allow a gradual taper like the military rounds. Any ideas for a crimp die that will apply a loooooong ...

Where do you get once fired reloadable brass? I would particularly like to find the 7.62 x 51 NATO 308 brass as my surplus is all Berdan primed.

Re: Handloading for the Colt Detective Special?

Thanks for the discussion. Recently a new shop catering to reloaders has opened not too far away. I'll trot down there and see if the guru there might be able to offer a powder or powder/bullet combination to tame this little Colt. Brian down there makes his living teaching reloading to folks like m...

Re: 7.62x38 Nagant Ammo from SG

Those numbers are interesting. I wonder how it would have compared to other revolvers of its time? Were there some advantages with the Nagant? The old 45 Long Colt dating back to 1873 would seem to have been a lot more effective . . .

Handloading for the Colt Detective Special?

A couple of decades ago I bought a 1962 Colt Detective Special with the hammer shroud and the 2" barrel. It was sold as an ex-NYC issue weapon by one of those always reliable gun shop salesmen. The condition was near new with a small amount of holster wear. This pistol was hard on the hand to s...

Re: 7.62x38 Nagant Ammo from SG

I bought a can of this also. I figured it was cheaper to buy than the cost of the components to handload them. I don't shout my Nagant all that often so it should last many years.

This looks very much like a Makarov. Did CZ make some changes?

I have both an East German & a Russian Mak (in 380) and find them enjoyable to shoot.

Are the 9mm barrels hard to find? I have a 1953 CZ53 and might be interested in cutting costs. Do the 9mm rounds feed in the magazine OK?

Re: 7.62X 38 Nagant Ammo

Thanks for birddogging this. I just ordered a case of it, more than enough to last for many years. It is corrosive but that just means that the pistol needs to be cleaned in a timely manner. I had in mind setting up to reload this stuff but will not bother with this now. I already have way too many ...

Is there a shelf life on this stuff? I seem to remember someone saying that old BP got touchy with age and could detonate with little provocation. I have a goodly supply of it myself that has sat on the shelf for 20 odd years . . .

Re: Conversion Cylinders?

We used to have a local muzzle loading club called the Golden Bears that disappeared years ago. I used to shoot with them every month at a local range that was closed years ago. I know of no others. It would be fun to shoot with like minded folks. That Trail Boss is hard to find! I only see one can ...

Conversion Cylinders?

I have seen a lot of "conversion cylinders" being sold for the popular Italian percussion revolvers. They seem to be limited to "Cowboy" loads which are supposed to be lighter than factory 38 Special or 45 Long Colt. I like the idea of using these cylinders as it is now very diff...

Re: Pietta LeMat Takedown?

We are fortunate in my area of megoloplis to have two folks who work on Model Ts. One actually has a shop called the Tin Shed and that it where my Model T is now. I just talked to Larry who runs the place and my car is done now.I go up Wednesday evening to pick it up, I can hardly wait to see how it...

Thanks for your help on this, I'll see if I can get this started in the next few days. Once the form is submitted, how long does it take to have the COE in hand and ready to use?

Re: Pietta LeMat Takedown?

Yes, I notice that Dixie Gun Works is selling the latest batch for $1100.00. Possibly few are actually shot. My example sat on display in a cabinet in the first owner's living room for a decade or two and was never fired. I'm off to the range tomorrow with the Uberti Second Dragoon & a Uberti 19...

Re: Pietta Model 1860 Army

I recently read in a book about these revolvers that the .44 was kept to the Walker & the Dragoons because the steel available then was not strong enough to support the large caliber in the smaller 1851 platform. As I recall the story, a new steel called "silver spring steel" allowed b...

Re: Pietta LeMat Takedown?

Reading a description found somewhere on the web I got the impression that the .44 barrel unscrews from around the shot barrel. This revolver has such a wonderfully great polished finish that I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't mess it up fooling around with it. Pietta must have sold thousands of ...

Thanks Dolk, I've been dinking around with this for some years now and it is time to push it through to completion so I can get some of these long delayed transactions going. Re: FFL 03 C & R Question

For the COE you download the form from the state government website. I think that Calguns forum has the forms. You then get a livescan, pay for the livescan and for the DOJ and FBI stuff and mail in the application and wait. I just did it yesterday. Sent from the Telegraph Office Thanks Rudy. You a...
