Re: Makarovs show them off!
Oregon's saving grace may be that many of the residence in OR are California transplants. That is somewhat why they hate us! But most of the people leaving here in CA and going to OR are avid gun owners. One of the reasons they are leaving CA. In fact, one of the guys at work yesterday announced he...

Re: Makarovs show them off!
The OP had wanted pics of Makarovs. I suggest getting a wonderful book called The Makarov Pistol by Henry C. Brown & Cameron S. White. I just got my copy from Amazon a week or so ago and have been pouring over it looking for details about the Maks I have and also about the holsters and other bit...

Re: Makarovs show them off!
You best check out the firearms laws on Oregon before you move there. Oregon is about 10 minutes shy of being CA. This is my biggest worry. I have been monitoring the situation for three years in OR and it has been rock solid so far. Like VT, the state is run by hippies but there has been no progre...

Re: Casing Tumbler
Keep the full load (brass, media and solution) at or under 30 pounds. I run the load one time, for a full three hours, and it comes out sparkling. Let the pins air dry on a cookie sheet and store them in a plastic bowl. I store the drum with both ends open so it can dry fully between uses. Some fol...

Re: Salvagable?
I have a pal with some 303 with the same issue. It didn't seem wise to mess with them outside of saving the bullets. I understand wanting to use them but the risk seemed too high.

Re: M-1 Carbine Bullet for 7.62x 25 Tokarev?
I would expect that a lot of folks on this forum would be interested in this loading. With the surplus getting more expensive and the new CA ammo restriction there has never been a better time to get this sorted. The Sierra 85 gr bullets are also 308 and the CZ52 shot very well with them. I had no p...

RCBS for me. They replaced burnt out unit for free. Does great job with corn cob. Pistol and rifle. God Bless America. Pro Libertate Patria A good warrantee makes a difference to me. I got the Frankford Arsenal dry tumbler and have gotten a lot of use out it over the last year and a bit. I have no ...

Re: Makarovs show them off!
Thanks Dolk, I have been looking through the Calguns site and see that there is a lot of confusion about many matters here in the Golden State. I have the FFL 03 but stopped with the COE. That seemed too much trouble & expense for the few guns my budget would allow. I have been putting my money ...

M-1 Carbine Bullet for 7.62x 25 Tokarev?
I have been reloading Starline cases with Sierra 85 gr bullets that are expensive and wondered if possibly the Berry's M-1 Carbine 110 gr bullets might work in the Tok. Has anyone tried this? I have both a Soviet TT-33 & a CZ-52 that are very hungry . . .

Re: Makarovs show them off!
Captsupercow - A Bulgie like yours is very high on my lust list. Not only do I love Maks, I know a couple that just adopted a daughter from Bulgaria and she could translate the log book that comes with some of these pistols.
I look forward to hearing about your trip to the range!

Re: Makarovs show them off!
Dolk - Thanks for this, it helps me CONSIDERABLY! I have an FFL 03 C&R but have never used it, sellers out of state tell me that I am in CA and even with a C&R they can not sell me a handgun. Now as it happens, I am planning a trip to a freer state. Mebbee I should bring along some copies of...

Re: Makarovs show them off!
This looks very modern to my eyes. It would be interesting to know more about them. If I were able to buy a Makarov (living in CA I can only admire them from afar) I would go for the standard one that has the holster & even the log book. That's the kind of historical connection I that gets my ju...

Re: Makarovs show them off!
It looks like it has an extension on the magazine, something I haven't seen on a Mak before. I wonder if this is a hot rodded model?

What caliber is it? I see on Wiki that there are several different chamberings available.

Re: Casing Tumbler
Those do look terrific. My "wet" tumbler arrived today so more adventures in reloading can commence. I notice the destructions say to run the brass through twice, the first time with no media for a general clean-up, the second after sizing & decapping and trimming. This pass gets the m...

Re: Casing Tumbler
That's good to hear. It did get rave reviews from buyers on the Amazon ad which helped me to decide.
Do I need to decap the cases or can I leave them in on those cases I only want to quickly reload from range practice?

Re: Norinco 1911A1
I too have one of these Norincos and have found it to shoot as well as my Springfield Armory 45. It is completely reliable with no issues. The trigger feels a bit crunchy and could use some improvement. I like it.

Re: Makarovs show them off!
I have two Makarovs, the first is Russian post Soviet Union in 380. It is a rough piece of work that functions flawlessly but is hard pressed to keep the holes in the target paper within a one foot radius at 7 yards. It was far worse when I got it new, it wouldn't even print paper at all! Now it has...

Re: Casing Tumbler
I have the exact unit the OP linked to and have found it works very well for cleaning the outside of the cases. The inside is still fowled. This weekend I tried a brew of warm water, vinegar, dish soap & salt on some range pickup 380 cases that I intend to reload. After an hour of soaking with o...
