Re: Really? 1951 Tula sold for $465 on GB

MN & Weldon, you guys did pretty good. MN, you spotted the BBQ paint. In the case of this particular rifle, the amount of BBQ paint is what we call a "heavy BBQ". In other words, pretty much every metal part has been painted. On most heavy BBQ'd rifles, the rear sight is grey anodized/...

Just as a fun comparison, look at this reasonably priced Russian SKS.

Re: Really? 1951 Tula sold for $465 on GB

Now if you tell me that blip to the left of the serial number is a /1\, I am going to buy some magnified reading glasses! http://pics.gunbroker.com/GB/271516000/271516173/pix882193058.jpg Actually, I think that mark is just a big scar, like something hit the rifle or the rifle fell over into someth...

Really? 1951 Tula sold for $465 on GB

Okay class, here's a prime example of too much money, not enough brains/knowledge. I'll give the buyer the benefit of doubt and say he was shill bidding for the seller. No other explanation for this purchase. 65 pics does not, this price, make... Can someone other than the recognized SKS guru's tell...

Same here, which is why I figured I better pony up the big bucks at the time. Considering the recent sale amounts, I got it on the cheap!

Re: Jan GB sales

I never knew we bid against each other, sorry. I've let a few auctions go when I knew a fellow member was already bidding. The one exception would have been that '54 Izhevsk non-refurb DDR I won. No one was going to beat me that day! :) OO is a good coach!

I don't usually post this, because I don't want to detract from Boomer's hard work, but because a lot of you guys are still getting a feel of what is going on in the SKS world, I thought this might aid you along with Boomer's monthly sales data. If I did this correctly, you should be able to click o...

Re: Jan GB sales

Boomer what is your opinion of refurbs with a painted receiver, and unpainted bolt, like the one in the auction, vs a painted receiver and bolt. Then compared to a refurb rifle with blued metal? Which model do you call BBQ? I know you asked Boomer, but my opinion is that some rifles were deemed to ...

Re: Jan GB sales

OO, actually the $850 '54 Izhevsk and the $1380 '53 Izhevsk were the same seller. The '54 Izhevsk that sold for $1380 was another guy. Not that it matters, because it was the buyer's that made the sales. January was a record sales month as far as number of rifles sold. I wonder if we'll see as many ...

Re: What is it?

About 2 months ago, I sold a para for $450, so they definitely have an above average value for a Chinese. I'd like to get another one at some point, but it's been too much fun selling off all my SKS's! Whooda-thunk selling would be almost as addicting as buying!

That's a keeper there Dolk!

I have always noticed them in the catalogs, but thought the price was WAY too high. I am liking the price drop as it would be a neat rifle to have in the AK style family of rifles.

Re: Just in case

Darn...Our 2 feet of snow just melted and the last thing I was thinking about was firearms photos. Of course, now I can think of a few of ideas, but need the snow back... We don't get much snow and certainly not this much. This is what I woke up to 9 days ago. http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/ad21...
