I've seen the plum barrels on the Finish rifles, but I can't recall ever seeing it on a Soviet 91/30 refurb. Very interesting.

The Soviets used shellac, but I say again do not refinish it. It destroys the collector value. Cleaning a dirty fouled bore does not lower the collector value.

Do not refinish the stock in any way. You will only destroy any collectable value that your rifle has. Just wipe it down with an old rag and that is enough.

Don't be paranoid about corrosive ammo. There are many effective ways to clean your rifle after shooting mil surp ammo. It is not so much what you use to clean it, just make sure you clean it. I personally come from the Hoppes #9 camp; but whatever you use, just make sure you clean it right away and...

The ones I have are late style Izhevsk stamped clips and the work great. They are much nicer and tighter than the reproduction clips I have tried in the past. If I remember correctly mine are from a 1947 crate.

I know quite a few people who have ordered that ammo and are quite happy with it. I bought 40 of the chargers off a guy who bought a few crates a little while back, and they are great.
