Re: Today's score- 1898 Tula M91 SA no import marks

Sweet! I would just do a quick breakdown to check for any active rust under the wood, oil her up, and put her back together; Then leave her exactly how she is. I agree with you. No need to make her a shooter, if you already have enough shooters.

Re: Rguns

The site is missing a lot of what was once there. They also moved to a different location than the location on Western Ave. that they were at before. I am hoping they are just in a transitional stage right now, and they will get back to business as usual soon.

I doubt Joe will be taking his apart just to measure the tapped holes for us though Walt. Didn't he say that they only made something like 5 of them?

Re: Current pricing on SCW Mosin?

It is 100% an M91. Tula never made Dragoons until 1923. Plus a Dragoon handguard and barrel bands are different too. Dragoons use barrel band springs to hold the bands in place like a 91/30.

I still say 1920 is way to late for a pressure test rifle, but I don't know what this is.

Re: Gambled and Won. Finnish P-26 (Pic Heavy)

Thanks, the great price makes up for my polish m44. The marks looks like V eagle C. I've checked the list of finnish, czech, Austrian, etc marks and nothing. I have Tikka M30 that had a S and a Rampant lion I've never seen on any sites/books as well. Who knows, it also has a M marking on the left s...

Re: Current pricing on SCW Mosin?

That is an interesting cut out in the stock at the rear of the cross bolt. I haven't seen that before, but their are a lot of interesting field repairs and such on many SCW rifles. If you don't mind, what did you end up buying it for?

Heck, download it and give us a report! I'm still waiting for Joe Leiper to finish his Russian Revolvers web site.

Re: Current pricing on SCW Mosin?

You might want to clean out those spider eggs though. I like rifles with history, but if that history involves spiders? My wife wouldn't let it in the house. Like everyone else already said, buy it and post pics. I don't think I would go to $350 on an SCW 91/30, but $200-$300 range seems about right.

Oh no! I'm not falling for this game again....last time I played this Martin was giving away creepy dancing cupie dolls as the prize. Those things creeped me out for like a week.

Re: Need Info On This RA M91

I hate to burst your bubble, but with those pictures you ain't going to get any $1,000 offers on that rifle. Like racerguy00 said, this is probably a $450 rifle. If you put a $500 OBO you might get some action on it. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice rifle; but $1,000 Remington's are usually the US pr...

Re: 1914 finn capture dragoon rifle

Oh also, where is the bayonet pic? Did you get a M91 bayonet or a actual Panchin bayonet? I guess being a Finn capture all bets are off, but it is my understanding (according to Joe Leiper) that Panshin bayonets were never made for Dragoons. They were only made for transitional 91/30's. Vic has som...

Re: I fell off the wagon... Who wants to be my sponsor ??

The best way to slow down is to focus on really really hard to find models. Granted if a good deal gets thrown in your lap you will probably relapse; but if you only search the auctions for particular Mosins, you won't be tempted to buy? (On a side note you will miss out on all the mislabeled, bad p...

Re: Boresnake for Mosin

Well, you can use Hoppe's. It just takes longer and is less efficient. Your choice. It is, but I just never trusted myself to be flushing water down the action of my guns. I know with BP it is a must, but with anything else I just scrub the living crap out of it with Hoppes. Back to the OP. I swear...

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your 1947 Izhevsk M44. $170 is a hell of a deal these days on an M44. Nice one and thanks for sharing your pictures.
