Re: My three biggest facebook peeves

Ha! Dave PM'd me and told me who you were Joshua. I know you in the FB group, and know your handle on the forums; I just never put 2 and 2 together. LOL

Re: My three biggest facebook peeves

No the thing I hate most on facebook is the "it's ok to mod it because they made millions of them" crowd.. Even though the same was said of Enfields, and carcanos, and Mausers and such. For some reason they think mosin's will be different. Them and then counter bores hurt a rifles value c...

Re: Is 7.62x54r.net still active ?

The forum over there is quite slow these days, but I still enjoy it quite a bit. Just play by the rules of the forum you are posting on, and there all no problems. Bill, I still don't understand why you were banned? (Not being sarcastic in the slightest??)

Re: Ex Cossack found in crate!

Bill, I agree that there are probably more out there than the ones that have been called out for what they are; but still they are rare as all heck thus far. Yeah, values change, but that does not change the fact that they are rare. You just got in on the ground floor early....maybe too early to pre...

Both, way less non converted to 91/30 configuration. There are only a few at best of non updated version.

Re: Ex Cossack found in crate!

There have only been about 50 known examples still around. The last ones to come up for sale went between $1,500-$2,400.

Ex Cossack found in crate!

Not by me, but it is a Molot export that came in with a bunch of average 91/30's. Plus it is a 1920! (I know they made Cossack rifles until 1922, but this one is the latest dated one I have seen.) This is why I don't mind wadding through the endless numbers of 42 and 43 Izhevsk just in case I run in...

Re: 7.62x54R stripper clips in detail

Wow, $2-$5 each? A couple of years ago they were $.50-$1 each depending on the seller, and if the Izhevsk stamp was visible. I think I'm down to like 40 or 50 of them now. I guess I'm not giving any away as party favors anytime soon.

Re: 7.62x54R stripper clips in detail

Thanks for posting this thread. I have some late production Izhevsk clips that I keep for my own use (just to have and shoot with, not so much collect) but I have never really sought out all the other variations. Thanks for the pictorial!

Re: Help with cleaning damage on M39 stock

Shit, crap, f***! How many times have I gone on about using that cat piss crap in a bore!!! Now look at the mess it's made of yet another rifle. Hoppes 9, HOPPES 9, available at gunshops , Wal-Mart's, and the internet. It will strip copper fouling, and not harm anything on the rifle no matter if it...

Ahh, that is you that works below the Winchester Walt is always trying to buy!

Damn, your boss has really turned down $5,000 offers on it though?

Re: czech mosins

Let me rephrase: Most M91/38's are just uncommon. ak_milsurp's 1891 dated 91/38 and Mossy33Oak's Cossack stamped 91/38 are truely rare. In most cases though, 91/38's are just considered uncommon, while VZ54 snipers and VZ54/91 snipers I would consider actually rare in the United States. Czech provin...

Pretty darn rare, except the 91/38 (which are still uncommon). What model are you talking about?

Re: tula makes pastries?

Stalin's Ghost made a trip to Tula and the museum a couple of years ago. He traveled by train from Moscow and he had a really interesting picture thread documenting his trip after he got back. Most of the thread was about the Tula arsenal, but not all of it. (He is also married to a very attractive ...

I am normally not that into rifles used by the Balkan states with their eagles scrubbed, this rifle is an exception. Congrats! Thanks for posting it. A 1893 Chatellerault is a heck of a find regardless of if it has been partially scrubbed or not.
