Re: Question on refurb serial numbers
I have a Harley in my future, sometime before spring. Another nice thing about the Mosin...I can collect a couple of rifles without spending the same amount the Harley's going to cost me! I admit, I am envious of your rifle!

Re: Range etiquette question
Thanks guys, it was fun! I can't wait to get to an outdoor range and zero this thing in. I already KNOW I am going to pick up another one this week. After that, I am going to do some research and start to shop around for a true collector piece. I am already eye-balling a SVT-40. I am envious of many...

Re: Question on refurb serial numbers
Nice looking rifle! I like how you placed the bayonet to get it in the photo too. I have tried to take a photo of mine with bayonet attached, but there's just too much length for my cell phone to handle lol.
Good thinking!

Re: Interesting WW II photos
The photos at the bottom of the page were especially nice!
Thanks for posting this, I enjoyed the photos. It's amazing that they were jumping off tanks in full length coats while carrying 5' long rifles! I love the battle scarred tank photo as well.

Re: Range etiquette question
Here is the best I did after a couple of quick adjustments. Ignore the "7" and "8" shots, I tried to compensate by aiming low. I wish I would have stayed on target and see how well all 5 grouped: http://www.uscconlinealbum.com/lifecache-media-thumbnailer/thumbnail/photo04/c5/09/9...

Re: Range etiquette question
Thanks for the replies and advice. I take note of everything recommended :) Just got back from the range and I have to say I am overwhelmingly impressed! I have never been to an indoor range in my life and I wasn't sure what to expect. We go into the actual range which is seperated into 2 sections w...

Re: Range etiquette question
Thanks LongColt, I am looking forward to it. I have a short piece of brass I have had laying around for 15 years. It finally found a home in my ammo pouch. I lived in the country all my life except for the last 10 years or so. I would much rather prefer going out into my back yard and firing the rif...

Range etiquette question
Is the word "etiquette" even in the Mosin-Nagant vocabulary? I got the range for an hour this afternoon. I haven't shot my 91/30 yet. I had to pick up some pricey soft tip ammo but its worth it to be able to shoot it! I assume that it is going to shoot high which there isn't much I ...

Re: Simple accessory question
My "cosmoline bottle" is the one component that I still haven't cleaned up. One side is packed full of cosmo, the other side has a big plug that fell inside when I took off the cap. I don't have enough solvent left to clean it up and all the other methods don't even begin to touch it as fa...

Re: Arisaka?
I am new to military surplus weapons...I have a collection total of 1 so far lol. But, I can tell already I am hooked. I was at a local auction here in Omaha last week and among the antiques, there were about 15 long guns and 15 hand guns. One was an Arisaka in pretty good shape. I didn't know anyth...

Re: New member with questions on markings
Nice looking rifle! Sheesh, your's has 10 times the marks mine has. I don't have any marks at all in the groove in the stock or on the side of the bolt like yours. I am anxious to see what the experts have to say.
Good luck!

Hi sclinesr,
Mine has the same arsenal stamp as yours, except the serial number is 051620. Still close enough for them to be brothers

Re: Simple accessory question
lol, I got it now, thank you. I tore the rifle down to it's tiniest component and put it back together again with no issues...but I have been staring at this obscure piece for a long time and couldn't figure out what it was for! While searching around, I did find some bad news and some good news. I ...

Simple accessory question
I have looked around quite a bit and can't figure out what one piece in the tool kit that came with my 91/30 is supposed to be used for. I can post a photo if needed, but I am sure you guys will know by description. It's about 3/8" diameter, about 1" long. It has a hole that fits the clean...

Re: AR vs AK vs Mosin-Nagant
These comparisons just made my day! I especially chuckled about the bayonet through the ceiling one...my ceiling is just fine, but my nice, new ceiling fan now has a big ding on the edge of one of the blades!
