Re: Charles "Chuck" Hankins 1945-2021 R.I.P.
Oh wow! I don't know what to say. This is a shock. Chuck was one of the first people I met on the board here. When I first started working on gun-deals and started collecting Mosin Nagants (we know that leads to other rifles and it did) I found this board. I was eager to help people in the collector...

They just don't last anymore.... I have a tankless in my new house, Unlimited hot water. It's nice. This /\ I have a tankless Bosch that was installed in 2005 and still going strong. Only thing I've had to do is twice I had to pull the flow stem out and replace two o'rings that had shrunk. The flow...

Re: 8mm mauser, any brand or load to stay away from in M38 Turkish?
I know that 8mm Mauser is usually pretty available except right now. There is some greek surplus floating around that I think is too cheap to trust, but otherwise small sellers and secondary market otherwise. I have found some Federal 170 grain that is about as cheap as I think I'll find at $40 per...

Re: Chinese SKS Spike Bayonet oil
Wasn't the law on the issue somewhat nutty? I seem to remember that it was not illegal to have a Chinese SKS with a bayonet, but it was illegal to put one on it if it came without one. Do I have that right or is it my old-timers kicking in? I only have one Chinese left, and it came from an unrememb...

Re: Barrel covers and other accessories
I never used any sort of barrel cover on my rifles, something to remember is that 91/30's get hot around the forend during prolonged range sessions. ten rounds and it's hot, 20 and the oil starts boiling out of the forend wood. For display white or brown burlap with twine wrap would do for Finn, or...

Re: M39 Bore condition
Anyone with more experience than me (newb) care to evaluate the bore condition on my M39? Its had quite a bit of Hoppes and some cr-10. Still pulling some light blue and gray. Any comments are greatly appreciated. I have a Polish M44 that has a sewer pipe for a bore and it still shoots great. You'r...

Re: Russian SKS 1952 Tula
Very nice Russian. I have a 52 Tula also but it's in a laminate stock and it's a tack driver. I also have three Yugo's of different flavors. Only shot the 59/66a1 but it's also a tack driver. Great rifles.

Re: Optimus 8R camp stove
It's always nice to find little gems tucked away in the most unusual places. I used to help an old friend rebuilt industrial stapling machines up and down the west coast and we always stopped at thrift stores to look for cast iron cookware. He knew the difference between a nice old Lodge or Wagner p...

Re: Bad News...
Camp Minden Louisiana where the Hodgdon GOEX facility is located is south me and they've had quite a few problems there over the years. First of all it's a super fund site where they're disposing of old or outdated explosives. They've had some bad explosions there, one in 2012 I think, that caused t...

Re: Ammo score
Scored this from a buddy of mine today at vintage price. Anybody got a pic of what this looks like? I'm not opening it till I need it. Probably got it from Academy. They've been selling Monarch ammo in various calibers for a long time. Here's a listing for that same tin from 2016 for $169.99 https:...

Re: Refurbishment article - How they were refurbished
This is a new page on the "information section" of the forums. It covers the new Mosins being sold today and how they were refurbished. The rifles being sold today are not "unissued" rifles. Most collectors will tell you they have seen very few (or no) "unissued" Mosin...

Re: Russian PU scope.
Hey everyone! I have a question about the reticle in a scope on a Mosin sniper I am looking at. It is a Tulsky import and after doing reading here it looks authentic. On to my question, the reticle is centered in the scope for windage but not for elevation. The reticle is about 2/3 of the way up in...

Re: Last day to comment on ATF proposal for pistol braces
Since neither one was invented when that law was written, maybe the law needs to be revised. They make a gun fire like a machine gun, I don't see the need for either for hunting or self defense. Machine guns have one purpose, for war, to kill as many enemy as possible before they kill you. I would ...
