Re: Your Favorite Mosin in your collection

Folks, I have a hard time to answer this, but I will, anyway: My '32 Ishevsk Hex with the red numbers and red back visor blade shoots into 3x3 feet at 350m = 400yards with open sights. That is the one! And she is beautiful in furniture and metal, as shown here already. We had her out yesterday, open...

Re: some general mosin nagant questions

Welcome to the forum! As to cleaning, look up the post above, as to ammo, most surplus is corrosive and you should clean your Mosin on the day you shot it. As to head spacing, you better check that first or let a gunsmith do it for you. The OKIE site will help you get the right gear for the future. ...

Re: Ebay stripper clips! + mosin pics

Even so, PSMD, brass is softer than the original steel used some 50 years ago. So expect early retirement of these because of wear and tear......but only if you use 4 clips for a monthly range shooting of 100 rounds each, lol. :D :D :D The scraping of the steel rounds onto the brass may fall into yo...

Re: Ebay stripper clips! + mosin pics

JTH, if you compare an SKS clip with a Mosin clip, you will see the difference: SKS clip keeps the round level to the next one, as there is not enough space left and the clip grabs the shell directly in the groove. Mosin (RIM) clips just catch the rim, but you can move the cartridge up and down towa...

3 DOGS,
thanks for the "cool", right now I need to fold, but I have a rabid comment about your motto in my sarcastic mind that I need to churn on a little longer...but I know, you will love it. So "bear' with me, and let me keep my arms.... :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:

Re: Mosin Porn

ofgg, that's not cosmoline, it's perfumed Russian Style pig fat (high density gun grease). According to JYD's post somewhere here on the forum cosmoline is a US thing only, not used in the USSR ever. Nevertheless the perfumed pig fat (as my wife calls it) smell is also available on Yugo SKSs, so it ...

:D :D :D It was the EPA Conviction on the Silver Ranch near Vegas, I think, Jim. You could not come because you had to oversee your inhouse ammo inventory (the important annual one) The ladies just raced for the cards, they had a strawberry lolly attached to sweeten up the EPA horse s..t.......but I...

Re: Gun range hurting

Apart from the fact that the Dolk refused to issue me RMNF business cards because of my one-track mind I have to say that a lot of people there knew the forums. Other than that, I personally like to go out on weekdays, however, depending on my days off work, I have to bite the weekend bullet once in...

Re: Help determining this 91/30

Very nice, congrats....

Seems shootable, so a front band is ok. But make it Ishevsk, lol. The rod, IMHO, secondary, only if you intend to present it with other Mosins or sell it. Real nice find!!

Re: Gun range hurting

Rusko75 Depending where you are......fast retraining??? On Sat and Sun our open range place had an average of 5 parties (shooting, not partying) from 8am through 4pm, lots of 7.62 all varieties being shot, even 2 50 cal and 1 338 Lapua, I was quite surprised. Lots of Mosin 91-30 and 3 M44s. Finally ...

I still have some 1952 60 LPS on clips that I use on the range, was to late on newer crates, oh well, this drought will pass.
