Re: 1894 Tula [SA] M91

Still looking for an antique like that for myself. The '94 barrel on the '95 receiver is not all that odd. Could have been done near the new year if the pair are original to eachother. Or done during an early Russian rearsenal process, like when it received its Konavalov rear sight in 1909. Fine fir...

Re: M91/38 Came In Yesterday

Cuold the loss of bluing be due to during/after the cut-down process it never made it back to the bluing tank? Unsure, but doubtful. In observing what would have been a newly installed rear sight, one would expect to see a rich, dark and consistent bluing. But even the finish on the rear sight is s...

Re: M91/38 Came In Yesterday

I agree, it does exhibit the appearance of significant use, much like an issued firearm. And your question does give pause for reflection on the earlier statement I made for original bluing. It's more likely that the prep or the application for the re-bluing just didn't take well and is largely abse...

Re: Hungarian BM52 PU sniper M1891/30

Truly unique in configuration, condition and history. And a firearm with a personal connection. Keep it safe and respected. I also have a half dozen rifles from the Vietnam theater, and the thoughts go not only to the hail of fire that came our way, but to the soldiers that also relinquished these W...

Re: M91/38 Came In Yesterday

Thanks for the welcome, Russel et al. As I can see that this forum is a small community to start, it does appear to have some seasoned members transferring from the unfortunate circumstances at another community. And yes, if at one post per week, it would take a couple of years to "reintroduce&...

Re: M91/38 Came In Yesterday

Thanks, gents. Just a variant that I couldn't pass up, refurb or not. These just don't surface often at all. The M-44 stock is actually most common, though a good number of them also were fitted from cut down M91 stocks. Some of the cut down stocks also had the bayonet relief slot added. As these M9...

M91/38 Came In Yesterday

My first topic since I stumbled on to this forum might as well be my latest find. 1899 Izhevsk M91/38. Just the right amount of character. Enjoy the pics. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/M9138_001.JPG http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/M9138_004.JPG http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/...
