Tell you what, I will give you $300, not including shipping, for that rifle so you can have an extra $100 for your arisaka fund.

Re: Mosin Price Hike?
The real impact on price happens the days after the tap is shut off and no fresh rifles are coming in. That's true... just look at the prices for a good SVT-40 in the U.S. ($800 - $1000) versus what I will pay for one in Canada ($300 - $400). http://www.wolverinesupplies.com/details/12364/Tokarev-S...

Re: Best rust preventative?
Plus one for the motor oil. 10w30 for regular use, 20w50 for something a bit thicker. Maybe i have that backwards... anyway. It is cheap and easy to find.

Re: 1939 Mosin Nagant @ 100 yards
Shooting position and technique will have a lot to do with it. Also the tightness of the action screws. These old rifles also have heavy triggers, so proper trigger control could be an issue. But, the results you got really weren't that bad. :) so long as you had fun, and enjoy the rifle, it shouldn...

Re: barrel reciever witness mark doesnt line up.
Yeah, I'm not too worried about it. What's the worst that could happen? I'm sure the Finns put a lot of care into their rifle making, that's why I found these two things funny.

Re: barrel reciever witness mark doesnt line up.
Its the outside of the barrel that bets thinner. Its as if the barrel maker held the lathe on that three inch spot a bit too long, then went on to make the rest of the barrel as they should. It is hard to see by eye, but easy enough to feel, so it isn't that much different. The inside of the bore is...

Re: barrel reciever witness mark doesnt line up.
The barrel also has a thin spot. Basically as you run a cloth all he way down the barrel, about 1/3 of the way to the end you can feel it getting thinner then it gets thicker again. What a quirky rifle this one is. The thin barrel doesn't really worry me. It still has my lucky number as its serial n...

Re: barrel reciever witness mark doesnt line up.
Sights are on top and in line. Basically there is no rocking when the front and rear protective ears are on the ground. The tang date is 191? And the barrel is 1968. Its an m39. Head space is good too.

barrel reciever witness mark doesnt line up.
As the title says, the line on the barrel and reciever don't quite line up on one of my m39's. They are about 1/8-1/4 of an inch off. I was just wondering how much this would be an issue. Granted, I suppose the best way to find out is to shoot the thing, which I plan on doing. Just checking out your...
