Re: 1970 m39. 1898 tula reciever.

Somebody call a cop 'cause there's been a robbery! YOU STOLE that rifle for that much! :chuckles: :chuckles: I agree. I dont think the seller, a gun store in mass bothered to take it apart. Otherwise they may not have let it go for the going price of a regular m39. Im also glad the bore cleaned up ...

1970 m39. 1898 tula reciever.

After contacting a seller on gunbroker about an item they had for sale, come to find out they had something closer to what I was looking for. A late date m39. So we settled on a price of $450 shipped, and here she is. It wasn't until I took it apart that I found it was an antique. Kind of bummed I h...

Re: First Shots

I am right handed, but I shoot far better with my left. I think it has something to do with the fact.my right arm is better able to stablize the weight of the rifle, and my left hand is better at fine motor skills as I play mandolin and bouzouki.

How important is it that those witness marks line up on a rifle?

Re: planned on a nice sunday shoot, but.

Same weather here in NH but I'm still shooting my Mosin today. Have to get ready for the tenth "Frozen Mosin and Frostbite Extravaganza" up your way next month. Very good point. I posted about that shoot a week or so ago, trying to get as many members from here to go as possible. But sadl...

planned on a nice sunday shoot, but.

It is sadly supposed to snow here in down east Maine. So I'm faced with the dillema. Do I not go out shooting, and save my rifles from the wet, cold and snow? Or do I suck it up and realize these rifles were made with these conditions in mind and go anyway? That's the way I'm leaning, but what speci...

Very nice rifle. :) and a great bore too. I think I remember seeing that one on pat burns' website. As for the stock. Lemon oil will work wonders.

I have a tang date very similar to yours where I'm not sure what the last digit is supposed to be, if anything. Your guess is as good as mine. Great rifle though. :)

Very nice rifle. :) as for the bore, try sone normal cleaning and shooting it firsts before you get anything abrasive in there. You may be suprised by how well it shoots, and how well shooting it and regular cleaning will clean it up.

Re: uncommon SA stamp.

Very cool to see the stamp on the same location on a 70's m39. The serial number on my m39 is 304752, how close is yours to that if you don't mind me asking.
