I do not have all of these and will try to get the ones I need as time goes on Given what I can afford to pay :) but here is my list of what I think a collector should look for and add to his or her collec...

Re: Mfgr date of Chinese Type 56 Norinco SKS

Dont feel bad !!!!! the Chinese factory codes can be a real hard thing to read . I have been collecting them for years and some are hard to read and sometimes how they are stamped makes a big difference. Check out the posted pics and see what I mean about reading them

Re: sks question time

the original ones are phosphorus coated and that material was used as well on Military gauges in Vehicles. Its been outlawed now because it has radium in it. I imagine you could get a replacement sight off one thats been canabalized for parts. Check out the various parts places or look on gunbroker ...

Re: Mfgr date of Chinese Type 56 Norinco SKS

all I saw was orig post of a triangle 016 But then I am used to reading them The Chinese like to use the triangles and make the numbers follow the shape. Got to watch out for some like 216 often is mistaken for 26

Re: Mfgr date of Chinese Type 56 Norinco SKS

You are correct, but you can get pretty close based on features, heavy barrel lug were early mfg, short barrel lug were mid production and pressed barrels were late production. No one really knows the dates when production types changed, here is a page that shows the lugs and other features. http:/...

Re: Norinco ?

Anything the Chinese make for their military is top quality . ALL SKS PARTS ARE MILITARY the problem comes when you buy the stuff they assembled for the importer's from left over parts. These guns were not assembled for the Military or Military Contracts. The so called paratrooper farmers friend and...

Re: Chinese receiver markings : variations

I saw several rough looking Chinese Saturday at the big gun show here. One had no symbols or arsenal mark. It only had a long series of numbers. I could not visualize in my head what it may have been. First two digit were 22is all I remember now. Those guns were assembled for commercial sales They ...

Chinese receiver markings : variations

there are allot of variations in the Marking of the Chinese type 56 sks Carbine I thought some of you may enjoy seeing some and maybe adding any you might find interesting. One factory code for sure is above all the rest in odd markings that is the DP marking one of the few receiver markings with le...

Re: Drago's DDR TUTORIAL (sticky)

Nice looking stock on that one, Howie. What's the stamping look like on the bayonet? BTW, I didn't realize I had broken links. They are fixed now, with the addition of a really crisp bayonet marking of a /R\. Most all my Russian Bayonets are marked with some sort of proof I think that has nothing t...

Re: Drago's DDR TUTORIAL

that is one fine post Ill add to it when I have more time with my photos. The above miss matched magazine has all the signs of being scrubbed at some time before re marking. It is not all that unusual that they sometimes goof on the selection of punches and whack the wrong number or get one backwar...

Re: Chinese SKS

After the initial imports were going on from China the market was flooded with Military surplus guns. The importers were offered large amounts of spare parts, which they were not interested in tying up there money for. The bulk of all Chinese guns that came in were most likely rebuilt. The parts wer...
