you would be hard pressed to beat any Military rifle or carbine for a survival weapon. It proved itself all over the globe . The cartridge is really a good choice for under 300meters as that is whats it is designed for. It took down many a fighter in Vietnam Africa and in Yugoslavia's war not to men...

that is a 106 you really have to look carefully at these codes and some times a 5 may be a 6 depending on how it got stamped. Its ok I can take a joke :) I would rather have someone poke fun at me here than see this boards turn into another bubba boards. the only commercial grade items are the non Military like the D and others that importers came up with. I don't think that most guys grasp the thought that almost all the Chinese sks carbines that came here were rebuilt. The ones that may not have been are slim. You really cannot try and figure them out as they do not waste parts and scrub them and re use them as needed. The Russian s do not bother in...

That is very interesting info Howie, :toast: I've heard the oval and rectangle stamped were retail/commercial made models, triangle stamped was generally military contract, any truth in it? I would vote info like that for a sticky post :D No I believe they use the various triangles ovals rectangles...

I have always been interested in all the things that go with the weapons I collect I am missing quite a few Chinese oil bottles My dog once found one that I only had one of and have not seen since he chewed it up of course:(

Ahh I see what you are talking about I have 4 slings for my 4 carbines one is new but I have not seen anything other than the Romanian leather ak slings available.

has anyone tried to do a form for importing a curio and relic from Canada I read they just made that possible. I would think the SKS would fit that bill as well as the Other Russian semi autos But I am not sure on that.
