Re: 1892 CG Haenel Kar88
The Gew88 was the first smokeless rifle adopted by the German military. It was a clip fed 8mm rifle adopted in 1888 after the French came out with the Lebel. The Kar88 and Gew91 were the Carbine versions of the Gew88. Despite being replaced by the Gew98 Mauser they continued to be used, as Junkyard ...

1892 CG Haenel Kar88
I stopped at one of my favorite gun shops on a Friday night. Nothing there struck my fancy. Drove another forty or so miles to Cabelas. Saw an Argentine 1891 Carbine on the racks but passed. Went inside the gun library didn’t see much at first but almost missed this little Kar88 hidden in one of the...

Re: Question on Arisaka Type 38 carbine
It’s a Type 38 Carbine, an early gun will match by assembly numbers not serial. Bolt and Bayo lug will match a number on underside of receiver. It’s not a trainer or at least not a purpose built one. Mum was scrubbed it’s possible someone blued over it.

VZ-23 Czech Mauser
I stopped into one of my favorite gun shops to look at two pistols I had on hold. The first was a two lever Vis35 but it was mismatched so I passed. The next was a 1937 Nagant revolver refurb but nicely done and small import mark. I decided to put the Nagant on layaway, as the clerk I were walking b...

Webley MK6
I was never much of a handgun until recently always been more into rifles. However I’ve wanted an unshaven Webley MK6 in 455 for a long time. A coworker recently offered his for sale and I was quite happy to get it. This one is a 1915 first year of production example, it is all matching and it was a...

1932 VKT M27
I went to a local gun show about a month back, found a coupe average arisakas prices weren’t unreasonable but they didn’t do much for me. Also found a decent Long Branch No4 but price was a little stout at $575 so I passed. I left the show empty handed and stopped at a shop that specializes in colle...

1903A1 National Match
I stopped into Cabelas for a bathroom break during a 4 hour drive. Then I proceeded to their gun library and saw a peculiar 1903 rifle with a presentation plaque on the butt. The 1903A1 stock and plaque had my heart racing a bit, sure enough it had a bright bolt with an electro penciled matching bol...

1969 Albanian
Picked this one up a couple weeks back at a local country auction. It is still covered in cosmoline with the importers tag. All visible parts are matching with the rear sight being electropenciled matching. Been hunting for one of these for a while and it goes well with my three Ruskies and Yugo M59...
