Re: Information on Enfield "jungle carbines" Needed
I finally got a close look at the rifle in question. It's a parts gun, with the importer/assembler name stamped on the barrel. Unfortunately, I forgot who it was. There is no trace of Number or Mark designation anywhere on the receiver that I could see. The distance from receiver to barrel band seem...

Thank you, gentlemen!
I'll take a closer look at the rifle later this week, if it's still there.

Information on Enfield "jungle carbines" Needed
My local gun shop has what is purported to be an Enfield "Jungle Carbine" for sale. Being distracted by other matters, I did not examine the rifle closely but only looked across the counter at it hanging on the wall. The asking price was c. $265. The only hard information that I have on it...

Re: SVT40 Markings
Accuracy is acceptable, but recoils more than I expected for some reason. Disassembly is not a breeze, but is worth the fun of shooting it. Too Slow I think that the greater than expected perceived recoil is from the almost straight-line relationship of the barrel to the stock. The muzzle brake may...

Re: Zastava M57 Recoil Spring
Thanks for the information, gentlemen. The recoil spring on my pistol looks like the Polish one. I then infer that it is identical to the Russian original.
The unusual spring arrangement does not seem to have degraded the gun's functioning. I'll post a report after I get to shoot it some more.

Zastava M57 Recoil Spring
A friend and I each purchased a Yugo Zastava M57 pistol from Widener's recently. My friend's gun has the captive recoil spring assembly but mine does not. The recoil spring on my pistol looks like that of every other Tokarev variant except for the M57. Because this is my only Tokarev pistol, I can't...

Re: no more brownbear for me
Western weapons require modern ammo, and clean powders. The commies made everything to work even if it had mud frozen in it. The Mattel special requires attention to cleaning, and it was lack of cleaning and dirty powder that caused it's initial problems in Vietnam. In my low speed/high drag experi...

Re: Here is a Thought! What Rifle's did they carry in the Mo
I finally dug out my copy of "Dr. Zhivago" and watched some of the scenes with rifles. There was definitely a mix of Mosins and 1893 Mausers. In the scene where Pasha led his unit over the top, the troops appeared to be carrying nothing but Mosins. In the scenes when the deserters from the...

Re: I need some opinions.
I wouldn't shoot that way. There's too much vegetation there for some unknown person to be lurking in.
Remember the fourth rule of firearm safety: "Always be sure of your target and what is behind it."!!
Get somebody with a blade to do a berm and then get rid of the vegetation.

Re: FEG PMK-380 Magazines
Thanks for the tips, gentlemen.
I had gotten a PA-63 magazine at a gun show. Although it looked like the PMK-380 mag to the naked eye, the magazine would not fit the pistol. The differences were only a millimeter or two, but they were enough for it not to work.

FEG PMK-380 Magazines
I have a Hungarian FEG PMK-380 pistol in .380 that was imported by KBI. Unfortunately, my extra magazines for it have been lost; I would like to get some replacements. All my searches in the usual places (Numrich/Gun Parts, Sarco) have proved fruitless. If anybody has any ideas of where I could find...

Re: Here is a Thought! What Rifle's did they carry in the Mo
In most of the scenes in "Dr. Zhivago", the Russians were carrying Spanish Model 1893 Mausers. One of my friends gave me a Spanish 93 Mauser that his mom brought back from Spain before the Gun Control Act of 1968 was inflicted on us. I like to think that the rifle may have been in the film.
