Re: I bought a Reising!!!!!!!!

Sweet find Rob, congrats! I truly enjoyed restoring my M44US(b). Like you, I wouldn't have touched it if it had been US property marked. But as a civilian rifle, it became a fun and educational project :) They actually have a fairly similar silouhette. I've got some leftover blue-ing and stock finis...

Re: help identifying new Mosin Nagant

All these refurbished milsurps have spoiled people, most of the time when a country is finished with a war they stack the rifles use just as they are and then sell them for surplus a few years later. The below is what issued milsurps look like, the rifles that are still as they were when the shooti...

Re: First time buyer

Hi TigerGod, welcome. Congrats on the new rifle. I haven't seen a real PU sniper first hand, but the experts have beaten me up so often, I sort of know what to look for now :redfaced: I agree with Buckeye...the scope appears to be reproduction. Also, the stock cuts are too "crisp"...straig...

Re: Carcano Info PLEASE

Nice job finding a new honey hole  When martin08 posted up a new Carcano he picked up awhile back, I started reading up on them. I read for several hours. They have an interesting and fairly well documented history and it was nice to be able to actually read up on a rifle versus hopping al...

Re: scope for scout mount

try to avoid the made in China stuff  I've personally have become very much "anti-scope" when it comes to these old war relics. If I want to shoot a scope, I buy a modern rifle to put under it. If I want to shoot a historical rifle, I shoot it as it was designed. Even with a tem...

Re: Type 38 Arisaka Calvary Variant

With Arisakas still being sort of the underdog of the collector world, I am doubtful a bayonet has been faked...there just isn't enough return for the effort. That's only my opinion though. Do you have a photo of it available? Clean it up and attach it to the rifle. The "click" is rewardin...

Re: Type 38 Arisaka Calvary Variant

Nice rifle! I'd pay well to have one like it. The estimated values given to you apper to be right on to me. Your rifle, complete, is probably pushing $600 to maybe a bit more based on recent purchases. But, you're missing the cleaning rod and bayonet...which brings the value down significantly. I wa...

Having a Finn show up on GB would be reason enough to wake back up and get one last bid in. As tired as I am, I can't rest with only 7 Mosins in the rack!

Hi billybob, welcome to the forum! You know, I am going to call your bluff and raise you one. I too am getting up there in years and don't always ask to get my butt kicked intentionally, but when it comes to these old rifles, I actually look forward to it. I used to shoot a LOT and I have the sore s...

Great choice! You'll have a lot of fun with it and quickly appreciate the low cost of a day's worth of shooting. This would be a fun rifle to do a range report on (hint hint) :)

Congrats PCM!
