Re: Hey You AR Guys...

I have one, 16" barrel carbin. It's fun to shoot, a b*tch to clean. I don't want another one.

There is really no difference in accuracy between 16" and 20".

AIM has Nagant surplus ammo

Just in case you need some. It is Berdan primed, not reloadable, corrosive.

Re: Best Home Defense Round?

I know. I'm considering getting some of those safety slugs. I think Glazer makes them.

I know someone is working on one that penetrates about 8 inches then dissipates into vapor.

Re: Best Home Defense Round?

I have two that I keep ready, a Glock 22 (.40) with a light on it, and a Ruger Redhawk 4" .44 magnum loaded with soft round nose .44 Specials.

I have a small house. I figure either of those is plenty firepower.

I have moles that like to destroy my grass.

I have been tempted to stick the muzzle of a 12 gauge into one of those mounds many times.

Re: The mosin's action

Mosin - Nagant -- Mosin was a Russkie, Nagant was a Belgie, from what I understand Belgium is very like France -- so yeah, French influence was strong.

French culture influenced the Russkies long before this time. French used to be the language most of the Russian aristos spoke.

That is an excellent 50 yard target. I assume you were shooting from the bench?

Did you try shooting from a standing position too?

That is the real challenge!

'Yeah, and there are PLENTY of others to talk about.

I understand the continuing fascination with Hitler, but at some point it passed overkill already.

Finally got to shoot my two Mosins side by side!

My club has a new site: http://cfrpc.com/ So, I went out this morning early and shot both the Mosin-Nagants, m44 and 91/30 to see if they were sighted in, and to see what the differences were. What I found was that the longer rifle is a lot more pleasant to shoot, and quite a bit more accurate. The ...

Re: my squirrel slayer :)

Use a 300 Winchester magnum, better safe than sorry :) I actually shot an armadillo with one of those once. I had hunted hard for two days without a bit of success and was on my way out of the woods, and there it was, standing right in my way. One shot and it blew up, literally blew up. It looked l...

Re: my squirrel slayer :)

Yep, I can attest to that. The squirrel's hide is so tough rarely does a pellet make it through. 7-1/2 shot is perfect. You don't need to change out the shells in your hunting vest from dove season :D I agree. 7&1/2 is perfect. I once shot three in a row with a semiauto 12 gauge. They were chas...

Re: AIM has some Chinese Mosins

In my opinion you should not try to compare these to Russian refurbs. You should not expect it to look great, our have a new bore. Think of rode hard and hung up wet. That is the most common conditions that these come from. We are not taking about brand new hunting rifles from the sporting goods st...

Are these good rifles?

I know nothing about them, other than what I read at the AIM website.

For the really hardened cosmo that is difficult to remove, try some 3M Adhesive Remover.

It melts it away.

Re: The gun show is...that way.

A Finn would be nice, or a M91. M44s are getting more and more expensive as the supply is running low, so if you can get one for $200 or less...

Of course if all they have are the more common ones, I would look for a hex receiver Tula M91/30 in good condition, maybe even a laminate stock.
