Re: 1953 TULA SKS

Too bad on the stock refinish, because that is an Ex-DDR Russian SKS. Would garner a bit of a premium if in original condition, especially with the way that stock would have looked. But hey, at least you have a nice Russian SKS to shoot! Very cool.

Re: TIKKA?

I wish all my M39s were $112 :beek: I saw your SKS on GB. Looks like a nice one. Hope it gets a big bid war. It needs to, because I'm still in a little bit of hot water with momma over spending more money on guns instead of paying off our taxes and CC bills. :( But I have priorities! Esp...

Re: TIKKA?

Well, it was a 3 gun deal for $325 total. One was a 1938 Tula 91/30 that bubba got ahold of and "sporterized", cut the barrel and put an M1 front sight on it. I sold that one for $100. So I'm only into the 1938 Izhevsk 91/30 and the 1944 M39 Sako for $225. So I guess technically, I got a r...

(A Sako too) I will have to go back to the cheap seats now. P.S. Paid for most of this with cha...

Re: This Albanian has found a home on the range....

I love Albies, never owned one. Had a chance to get one that looked just like yours, also a '78, but the $700 price was just too much. Someday I'll find the right one and she'll sit with pride next to the Russian, Chinese, Yugoslavian and Romanian SKS's I have.

Great looking SKS you have there!

Re: First "all year's" Ex-DDR collection?

Howie. This one has the original S/N so far to the left there is no room for the /1\ stamp. HOWEVER, they some times did drop the stamp under it. Meaning below the stock line. Not often, but we have seen that more than once when the original number is that far left. To me, it is still a DDR. Out of...

Re: First "all year's" Ex-DDR collection?

Much appreciated, Des! I've been obsessed with this thing for so long, I don't really know what to do. Ever since I found the final piece, a '53 Tula, I hardly even log onto Gunbroker or some of the other "for sale" sites. Amazingly, I'm actually getting some work done at work. Funny how t...

Those are jaw-dropping pics. I can't even describe how I feel about viewing them. I think I'm going to try and translate the comments, though.

Insane, just insane!

Re: First

I know what you could comment about. Probably every person that reads this except me already knows what DDR means. I know what ex means, so if I get a really good understanding of what the DDR is then I can figure out what a ex-DDR IS. Then I can understand what fuels a passion to collect that is s...

First "all year's" Ex-DDR collection?

As some of you already know, I'm kindof an Ex-DDR fanatic. I'm not really sure when the DDR variant took hold of me, but when it did, I totally flipped 180 degrees from what my previous Russian SKS collecting goals had been. I ended up selling 15 Russian SKS's, 4 of which were non-refurbs, in order ...

I looked at the title of this thread and wondered if it should go into the NSFW section...A rifle like that for that price IS a peter teaser though!

Re: copes rusty can special

i ordered 2 of the rusty cans and got them today. and not a spec of rust on them  I got two cans in today, from Copes. One is pretty rusty and I'll open that one and transfer the ammo into a 50cal ammo can. The other can, as far as I can tell, is in perfect shape. Typical Copes, going the...

Re: copes rusty can special

So how quickly did the Copes ammo show up after you ordered it? I ordered two cans on Apr 16th and it hasn't shown up yet. I'm clear out on the West Coast, so I realize shipping via the back of a snail may take awhile.

Re: AK-47 scope

Drago, the rifle you show on the pic looks pretty awesome. Thanks! It's just a 'el-cheapo WASR I bought a couple years ago and decided to play with a "black gun" look. This was before I actually built an AR, so I've gotten the whole tacticool thing out of my system pretty much ...

Re: SKS problem at the range

Last year I was at the range testing some semi-mild handloads in my Enfield #1 mkIII, and almost dismissed a mild "pop" and with my ears on and a busy range I could have had a real bad day, if I had just squeezed off one more round. I had already cycled the bolt, but suddenly the reality ...
